ENOUGH VÀ TOO

1. Cấu trúc “Enough to” (đủ để làm gì)

Enough to dịch ra có nghĩa là đủ để làm một điều gì/việc gì đó.

1.1 Vị trí của enough trong câu

1.1.1 “Enough” thường sẽ đứng sau tính từ và trạng từ
S + tobe + ADJ + enough (for somebody)+ to + V nguyên mẫu

Ví dụ:

 She wasn’t tall enough to become a flight attendant.

 Your marks are good enough to study engineering at university.

S + V + ADV + enough (for somebody)+ to + V nguyên mẫu

Ví dụ:

 I couldn’t write quickly enough and I ran out of time.

 He couldn’t run fast enough to catch the bus.

1.1.2 “Enough” thường đứng trước danh từ

S + V +enough + NOUN (for somebody) + to + V nguyên mẫu

Ví dụ:

 We don’t have enough wine for everyone.

 Has he got enough time to come to the meeting?

Ví dụ: He can’t buy a new house (Anh ấy không thể mua một ngôi nhà mới)
=> He doesn’t have enough money to buy a new house. (Anh ấy không có đủ tiền để
mua một ngôi nhà mới)

 Nếu chủ ngữ câu đầu là bổ ngữ câu sau thì phải bỏ bổ ngữ câu sau đi.
Ví dụ: The water is quite cool. I can drink it. (Nước khá mát. Tôi có thể uống nó)

=> The water is cool enough for me to drink. (Nước đủ lạnh để tôi uống)

 Nếu 2 câu có cùng chủ ngữ thì câu có enough sẽ bỏ cụm từ “for somebody”
Ví dụ: John is good. He can design a house. (John rất giỏi. Anh ấy có thể thiết kế một
ngội nhà)

=> John is good enough to design a house.

2. Cấu trúc với “Too… to” (quá … đến nỗi không thể)
2.1. Đối với tính từ

S + be + too + ADJ + (for somebody) + to V nguyên mẫu

Ví dụ:

 He was very nervous. He could not perform well on the stage. -> He was too
nervous to perform well on the stage.
 The task was very difficult. I could not do it without help -> The task was too
difficult to do without help.
2.2. Đối với trạng từ

S + V + too + ADV + (for somebody) + to V
