Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin on said the Naan Mudhalvan scheme has ensured
availability of skilled manpower for any multinational company to start an industry in the state.
Speaking at the first anniversary of the Naan Mudhalvan scheme, Stalin said more than 13
lakh students have been provided skill training under this scheme which is three lakh more than
aimed during the launch of the scheme. As many as 1,64,183 of them got employed.
Those who got jobs were final year students."Of 85,053 engineering students who have
trained under the scheme, 65,034 students have got jobs. Likewise, of 99,230 arts and science
students who were trained, 83,223 have been placed," Stalin said, adding that more than 25,000
students were placed in the special recruitment drives.
"The skill sets of students have been upgraded so that they can get the job even if they study in
any district or college. The earlier scenario of studying only in top colleges in capital city for
better job and future has been changed," he further said.
The CM expressed concern about the decline in the percentage of candidates from Tamil Nadu
getting selected for civil services exam. "It has come down from 10% in 2016 to 5% in 2022. I
am worried and this situation needs to be changed,"
