BVMS Licensing Basics (non DIVAR IP)
There are five main categories of base licenses when dealing with BVMS

All BVMS installations need a base license:

 Lite: Lite licenses base package is for free and includes 8 channels (cameras).

 Plus: The Plus base license starts with 8 channel and can be expanded up to 256.
 Professional: The Professional base license starts with 8 channel and can be
expanded up to 2000.
 Demo: There are several types of Demo licenses available based on need and relationship with
Bosch.
 Emergency Backup: Only issued in emergency situations due to server failure or special upgrade
situations (only 30 days valid).

Introduction: Revision Numbers
 Bosch VMS revision numbers are coded as follows: M.m.s.bbbb
Where M=major revision, m=minor revision, s=service revision & bbbb=build revision
Example: BVMS 8. 0. 0. 323
 New licenses are required when either the Major or minor revision changes.
Example: change from 7.5 to BVMS 8.0 or 9.0 or 10.0
 Service releases do not need new licenses
 Authorization number needs to be registered on the Bosch Security Systems Software License Manager

 Software License Manager System (SLMS) is an on-line tool to manage Bosch licenses
 Used by both Bosch personnel and Bosch customers
 SLMS is accessible via the internet https://activation.boschsecurity.com

Create Bill of Material (BOM) Receive order

BVMS Professional and send to Authorization number

Computer Signature
 32 hexadecimal characters
 Recommended best practice: Copy & paste it into a text file (for backup and later usage).
 When a computer signature has changed, the license for the base package becomes invalid.
 Following hardware changes can invalidate the license:
 Changing the motherboard
 Changing or adding a network interface card (NIC).
 Adding a VMware or VPN virtual network interface.
 Adding or activating a Wi-Fi network interface.
 Changing the “team” settings of the NIC (“teaming” feature on/off)
 Adding a Bluetooth interface
 Adding a USB mobile data modem dongle
 Unplug the Network cable: Physical network connection state on some OSs

1. Start the Configuration Client.
2. On the Tools menu, click License Manager....
3. The License Manager dialog box is displayed.

9. On the Bosch Security Systems Software License Manager website:

a) Login if you already have an existing account or
b) Create an account if you do not have an account yet
10. The License Manager keeps track of all your
license activations. Registration allows to
review this information at any time.

11. Follow the instructions to obtain the License Activation Key.
 After selecting Submit you will be given a summary of your license activation.
 You will have the option to print and/or e-mail the activation key for installation.
 It is advised that you copy and paste it to a text file, as well as print and e-mail.

12. Download the XML bundle file for your purchased license authorization number.
13. Return to the BVMS Configuration Client.

– After entering the correct number click Submit.
– You will be prompted to save the XML file: Select a location and save.

file or resp. email and paste it.
