Mobile continuous duct rod specification
1. Scope
The mobile continuous duct rod shall be used to install pulling ropes and winch ropes into
ducts, ready for telecom cable pulling operations or directly to pull and install cables in to
ducts. Mobile continuous duct rod can give compact and labor saving solution for cable
installation whether installing cables in ducts, threading draw ropes through pipes or can be
used to locate pipes and blockages.

2. Technical requirements
2.1. The fiberglass rod shall be lightweight and flexible.
2.2. It shall be round shaped, with accurate dimension and the diameter of the duct rod
shall be 11 millimeters.
2.3. The length of the pulling Rod/Duct shall be 250 meter or can be up to 275 meter.
2.4. It shall be constructed of fiberglass reinforced in the center and consists of a rugged
plastic layer that would ensure the lifetime of the flexible rod.
2.5. There shall be at least an 18 AWG copper wire inside the fiberglass rod to make the
rod traceable
2.6. It shall consist of metal frame and Skid/slip/slide resistance solid rubber wheels, wheel
assembly for easy transportation; guide rollers and shall have the right parts for rotary
coupling, parking brake for the flexible rod.
2.7. The rolling bearing cage flotation (reel transport) for mobility should be light and easy
to use in the field, including a parking brake for the flexible rod.
2.8. The feed device shall allow rod to feed-out or be-back with easy push or pull of rod.
2.9. A rugged tubular steel reel with adjustable positioning shall be used.
2.10. It shall get strength from a unique construction process that ensures greater rigidity
and strength, enabling it to endure the additional force required for long duct runs with
multiple bends and sweeps.
2.11. Color shall be yellow/orange/red, preferably yellow.
2.12. End Fitting: Shall be equipped with a Female end fitting on one end, with a threaded
Male end fitting and a tapered head/Pulling eye on the outward end.
2.13. Tensile strength: ≥45KN
2.14. Minimum bend diameter: ≤450mm
3. Accessories
3.1. Tapered heads/rod leader/ Ring Drawing head: which can be attached to the end fitting
on the duct rod and guides the rod through the conduit and the pulling eye allows a pull
line to be attached to the duct rod.
3.2. Swivel couplings: which can be used when the pulling rod is not long enough for the
conduit length to be rodded. With this swivel connector, two rods can be screwed
together.
3.3. Guide roller: which prevents the rod from wedging in under the cables/obstacles and
shall be used to push the rod through the conduit when cables are already in place.

3.4. Male and female end fitting repair
3.5. Splice repair kit for Duct rodder/Brocken duct rod Repairing accessories: single or
screw and joint socket made of brass/suitable material with epoxy glue/Splice Tube,
Epoxy and with Canvas Bag.
N.B. The accessories and parts to be supplied must be compatible for the duct rod to be
supplied.

5. Sample: Bidders are required to provide 1 piece with full accessories of the item as
sample
6. Warranty: Bidders are required to give a minimum of two years of warranty for the
mobile continuous duct rod.
