ROLE PROFILE

JOB TITLE: Operations Risk Management Consultant

Purpose Statement
We are looking for Operations Risk Management (ORM) consultant with overall 15+ years’ experience, including 7-10
years ORM consulting experience to join our fast growing consulting business. Experience in manufacturing operations
in a Line Management or EHS function role will be an added advantage.

analytical individual with a passion for results. You will use your excellent analytical, problem solving, and sophisticated
client engagement skills to identify value creation opportunities at our clients and work with subject matter experts / ex-
operators to convert these opportunities into executable plans. You will be skilled at using a hypothesis led approach to
rapidly focus on the few areas yielding the highest value in your clients.

Key Accountabilities

i. Consulting project delivery


This will be your primary focus. Develop value creation opportunities for our clients; framing the problem, developing
initial hypotheses, valuing the opportunities and working with client counterparts to flesh out opportunities into
executable initiatives. This will involve research, structured analysis (using operations, financial, procurement, HR data)
and strong communication (presentation decks and conducting presentations).

ii. Support business development.


This involves supporting the leadership by proactively identifying any farming opportunities on your projects

iii. IP development
Help develop differentiated points of view / articles to help position DSS in the market

iv. People development


Be an inspiring leader to coach and motivate your team members and client key-stakeholders. People development is a
core component of our ‘apprenticeship model’ for career development and will take on more significance for more
experienced applicants.

Contextual Information
i. Knowledge, Educational Qualification, Skills and Experience
• Bachelors’ degree in Engineering. A Masters or MBA post Bachelors’ degree in Engineering will be a plus
• 15+ years of overall experience, including:
o 7-10 years of Operations Risk Management (ORM) experience, preferably with any reputed EHS Risk
management consulting firm. Specifically:
▪ Broad understanding of ORM and how different management and operations elements are
linked together;
▪ Strong knowledge and practical experience in application / facilitation of a wide range of risk
analysis and risk management techniques;
▪ Strong background and knowledge of Process Safety Management elements including Process
Technology, PHA techniques like HAZOP, Consequence Analysis, QRA, LOPA, SIL, Facility Siting
etc. Additional knowledge of Operating Procedures & Safe Work Practices, Management of
Change (Technology, Facility & People), Mechanical Integrity & Quality Assurance, Emergency
Response & Contingency Planning, PSM Audits, PSM Incident Investigation etc. is desired
▪ Ability to effectively deliver training and coaching sessions to senior executives to
build/strengthen capabilities;
▪ Experience along the entire lifecycle of an asset, from concept, design/build,
operations/maintenance, modification and asset retirement;
o 5+ years of experience as Line Management (O&M, Technical Services, R&D etc) or EHS role within
manufacturing operations in Industrial sectors like Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals,
Cement, Mining & Metals, Infrastructure etc.
• Operational and commercial due diligence experience is a plus
• Skilled in analytical problem solving, well developed Excel and modelling skills
• Skilled in executive communication, using data to narrate a compelling story on PowerPoint; Ability with other
visualization tools such as Tableau a plus
• Executive gravitas, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to impactfully interact with clients at
all levels
• Fluency in both written and spoken English
• Ability to travel up to 75 % of time
