Has our life changed due to new technologies?

If you ask anyone if new technologies are changing our lives, the sure answer will be 'of course'
but, are we really aware of the great break that has taken place in the last ten years?

Regarding the industry, there are many companies that are disappearing or at least they are
reinventing themselves. For example, smartphones are killing Kodak and Canon, and
companies like Zipcar and Tesla are a threat to the car rental business and to the car
manufacturing, respectively.

If we talk about entertainment or spare time, technologies have changed our habits. Netflix has
contributed to emptying the cinemas. AirnBnb and Booking have modified our way of planning
our holidays and they are a problem to hotel owners and travel agencies.

But the most important transformation is the new way of being in contact. Twitter and
Instagram have replaced face-to-face interactions to the point that teenagers don't speak on
the phone but through Whatsapp. Also, new jobs have appeared like influencers or youtubers.

We have seen some examples that have occurred in the last years but it is sure that there will
be many more and quicker in the future. It is my belief that we have to be open to next
changes and to embrace them.
