CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

1.1 Report objectives

Recycling paper and using it to make handmade crafts for instance, can reduce the amount of
waste that pollutes the environment, save a lot of costs in terms of poly hamburgers, guaranty
the social empowering of the craft makers, and shall also create opportunities for promoting
art and talents among the society. Environmentally, it lowers the amount of garbage people and
businesses send to the landfill, and it also preserves natural resources and decreases the use of
energy. Economically, being able to make extra money for some businesses that can be
considered as small scale greatly reduces manufacturing expenses and extends newer markets
for firms that promote the usage of eco-friendly products. In an educational context, it serves
the purpose of informing the audience about the sustainability aspect and provides actual
practice in learning it. First, it also relieves congestion in populated areas; moreover, socially,
it builds a sense of togetherness, and people become responsible towards their communities.
Poli concludes that culturally, it serves to sustain conventional approaches to crafting in
addition to promoting arts and creativity. All in all, this practice fosters sustainability,
strengthens the economics of society, and encourages social inclusion and innovation.

1.2 Problem statement and Background of plan

Nowadays, the issue of the overwhelming amount of paper trash is becoming more and more
pressing. Despite the measures taken and the progress in recycling technologies, most
wastepaper still ends up in landfills or disposal. It leads to pollution and depletion of a secure
natural resource, therefore causing harm to the environment. So, the reason for our plan to
recycle paper into handmade crafts is an attempt to tackle the problem through contributing.
Due to the transformation of used paper into crafting products of different forms and patterns,
the amount of waste is significantly reduced. Furthermore, the objects that are the outcome of

1|Page
this project may serve to promote sustainability and independence. In this initiative, we aim to
touch on the possibility of rubbish becoming a crucial source and its need to preach recycling.

1.3 Scope of the business

The dilemma of recycling paper into handmade crafts solves exploitation and exploration not
only on the regard for the environment but also the need for sustainability and uniqueness in
products. In an era where everybody is an activist covering issues of waste management and
environmental conservation, issues of sustainability have become a priority. People are opting
for sustainable products as opposed to the traditional products that harm the environment; in
the proper implementation of the business is endless. The barrier entails how beautiful the
product can be and given that it the work of artistry drawn from the more core social
responsibility on the inception of the idea. The daunting ranges offered are producing greeting
cards, invitation cards, and notebooks thereof, on the other hand, DIY kits and many more.

The modern globalized trend for sustainability creates great expectations for the recycling
industry to demonstrate cutting-edge possibilities to fight environmental destruction.
Specifically, the area of transforming discarded paper into handmade crafts surpasses the
direction of mere waste management by meeting the increasing demands of the market loyal
to sustainable products. This paper will ascertain a business direction predicated upon a well-
formulated proposition of creating paper through recycling and further production of products
to be sold to customers. We propose an enterprise that follows the principles of sustainability,
innovation, and social responsibility, one that helps reduce waste and boost interaction and
economic empowerment. The enterprise is considered potential because the demand for
handmade products made from recycled materials grows every year.

1.4 Limitations of plan

2|Page
As we embark on our journey of recycling paper into crafts, we encounter a number of
obstacles that require our attention. One notable limitation is the lack of a dedicated team to
support our efforts and lack of communication with recycling facilities. As we watch our
profession evolve, it’s important to acknowledge these challenges and develop strategies to
overcome them effectively. Despite these initial hurdles, we are determined to find creative
solutions that will inspire us to succeed in the world of sustainable crafts.

CHAPTER 2: CASE STUDY

CRAFTZ aims to address the growing problem of paper waste by recycling it into eco-friendly
notebooks and bookmarks. This literature review will delve into the growing market for
recycled paper products, explore the environmental consequences of paper waste, and analyze
the success stories and limitations of similar businesses.

Environmental awareness is at an all-time high, leading to a growing demand for sustainable

products across various industries. The market for recycled paper products is experiencing
significant growth due to increasing environmental awareness. Consumers are actively seeking
sustainable alternatives, creating an opportunity for CRAFTZ. This trend is particularly evident
in the stationery market, where recycled paper products are experiencing remarkable growth.
Paper production contributes to deforestation, water pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions.
Recycling paper waste reduces the demand for virgin wood pulp, conserving resources and
minimizing environmental damage.

Recovered paper is one of the best managed secondary materials, boasting high recovery and
recycling rates around the world. Recovered paper is both a technically and environmentally
sound raw material and an important global trade commodity. Globally, recovered paper is the
most important raw material for the paper and board industry by volume. Paper recycling
reduces the burden on the environment by minimizing natural resource consumption and
reducing the amount of toxic chemicals released into the environment. Recycling paper
conserves natural resources, saves energy, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and keeps
landfill space free for other types of trash that can't be recycled. The main sources of paper
waste for recycled papermaking are industries, households, and small businesses. Globally,
approximately half of the paper waste is recycled, whereas half is incinerated or landfilled.

4|Page
Dhaka is one of the largest cities of Bangladesh with a large population has been a place of
commercial importance for more than 400 years. Each day 3000 tons of household waste are
produced in Dhaka city. About 9.73% of total waste is paper waste. The waste management
collects less than half of the waste produced. CRAFTZ will help to collect wastepaper and turn
them into aesthetic notebooks and bookmarks that will catch people’s eye. Our target market
will be those who are concerned about the environment and interested in buying
environmentally friendly products. Teenagers to adults will be willing to buy our product as it
will be colorful and have many eye-catching designs.

The growing market for recycled paper products and the environmental benefits of paper waste
reduction present a strong opportunity for us. By learning from existing businesses and
addressing potential limitations through product differentiation, sustainability focus, and
strategic partnerships, CRAFTZ can establish itself as a successful and eco-friendly business.

market. Their social impact program seems to be well-received. Ecojot strives for a
combination of environmental and social sustainability through their business practices.

2.2 Case 2: MoMo Pencils

MoMo Pencils, a product of recycled newspapers, is a manufacturing company meant to

promote waste management and environmental conservation. MOMO Pencils was founded by
Mahamud Omari and Fadhil Mohamed in Kenya in 2017. The two Kenyans came up with the
idea of making pencils using recycled newspapers. At the time, the two were looking to start a
business that would not only provide for their family but also leave a legacy that their children
would carry on, something that would impact the community, bring about positive change, and
create employment. Manufacturing seemed to be the right path, and that is how they stumbled
upon the possibility of turning newspapers into pencils.Omari and Mohamed reduce, re-use
and recycle old newspapers into beautiful, fun, and high-quality pencils.

Through research, they figured out what was needed to start a pencil-making company using
old newspapers. It took them three years of testing and failing to get the right product, MoMo
Pencils, which has grown to Mo&Mo Group, under the leadership of Mahamud Omari, the
CEO. Currently, the company can recycle about 200 kilograms of newspapers in a month and
produce up to 40,000 pencils in a day and about 300,000 to 1 million pencils in a month during
peak seasons. Most of these newspapers are bought from vendors, but some are donated by
well-wishers who understand and support the need for better waste management in Kenya.

The company takes pride in being the major local manufacturer of environmentally friendly
pencils produced from 100 percent recycled newspapers. They have a monthly production
capability of more than 3,000,000 black-lead pencils. Locally, MOMO Pencils has 50 workers
working in its factory in the Machakos County town of Athi River. They currently import the
graphite. According to CEO Mahamud Omari, the old newspapers cost them just KSH 70
($0.70) to KSH 100 ($1) per-kilogram. He says the price of the finished product depends on
the quality and quantity, but it ranges from KSH 15 to up to KSH 50 per-pencil.

7|Page
In addition to its local operations, the company is also focused on developing a strong regional
and global brand and distribution network that spans Africa and the entire world. They also
aim to show children that they can be innovative and achieve their dreams. Just because
something has not been done before doesn’t mean it cannot be done. It also leads to opening
their minds and looking for better solutions regarding environmental concerns. They learn how
to recycle and re-use available materials: trees were cut to make newspapers and pencils,
recycle newspapers to make pencils, plant more trees and reduce the making of wooden pencils.

While MOMO Pencils has grown into a successful company, it's likely they faced challenges
along the way. When they started, they had issues with the function ability of the pencils. The
pencils could not sharpen, they were not hard enough and they were not durable. This meant
they could not be approved by KEBS. Omari tells that since they were doing something that
had not been done in Africa before, they were learning during the initial production stages,
mistakes were made and they learned from them. They started by making about 5-10 pencils a
day, while an average good production capacity should be about 20,000 pencils a day. The
biggest challenge was getting into the market. Also, many sellers do not understand the concept
of eco-friendly; hence the concern on why their product is more expensive than other pencils
came up a lot. This helped them to be able to create a niche for themselves and target a market
that understands what they stand for instead of trying to fight market wars. Another challenge
they faced was the lack of a production warehouse. Production was put on hold for about six
months for the lack of an affordable large warehouse in Nairobi and its outskirts. Omari and
Mohamed ended up buying land in Athi River, Nairobi, Kenya, and built a warehouse. This
worked out perfectly, as the hot sun in Athi River is good for drying out the pencils.

MOMO Pencils' mission to provide quality writing tools while promoting environmental
consciousness and improving literacy rates continues to this day.Momo Pencils’ long-term goal
is to be a brand known to bring change not only in Kenya but throughout Africa. They aim to
visit 1milllion schools and plant a million trees by the end of the year 2023.Their story
highlights the potential for businesses to create positive change in the world.

3.2 Market Analysis and Marketing Plan

Handmade paper and gifts are bought and used by people of almost all ages and gender but,the
market of CRAFTZ primarily focuses on teenagers and youths aged from approximately 13 to
25-year-olds, who are interested in art, writing or journaling. Besides them, students who are
willing to conserve the environment can benefit from these recycled crafts as well. Another
part of the market of CRAFTZ are the businesses that wish to buy recycled paper as their raw
material. Through SWOT analysis and Porter’s Five Forces Model a complete analysis of the
market has been made.

3.2.1 SWOT Analysis

Strengths

CRAFTZ’s biggest strength includes its focus on sustainability and the use of 100% recycled
raw material for appealing to its environmentally conscious customer base. Along with that,
CRAFTZ also provides a diverse range of products including paper, notebooks, bookmarks,
gift cards, DIY kits etc. The trendy, artistic and versatile designs of the products make the
products the perfect catch for teenagers and youths. Not only do the products provide aesthetic
fulfillment, but it can also be useful for regular students who are looking for environmentally
safe products for daily use.

Weaknesses

Despite its strengths, the nature of the market of CRAFTZ causes it to have certain weaknesses.
As for example, the production capacity might be less as each of the products are hand crafted
and the quality of the product might vary as the result completely depends on the skill of the
craftsperson. The salary and wages of the craftsperson is also high, making the cost of the
products higher compared to other stationary items. Besides, the proficiency of the supply-
chain management might be hard to keep up as it is difficult to get a constant supply of high-
quality raw materials.

11 | P a g e
Opportunities

As the primary objective of the business aligns with the morality of its market and due to the
growing demand for eco-friendly products, CRAFTZ has the wonderful opportunity of
increasing awareness among teens, youths and the generations to come by. It also possesses
the opportunity to collaborate with conscious people with influence on the youth. It can also
work together with local eco-friendly retailers, institutions and businesses that require paper as
raw material. This gives the business the potential to expand thus creating more capital which
in turn creates more opportunity to extend the product line and introduce more eco-friendly
items.

Threats

In the initial period of the business, CRAFTZ can face several threats from the market and its
competitors. For starters, CRAFTZ will be facing competition with other established
businesses in the industry, and it will take a lot of time to get brand recognition and trust in
customers. Besides, changes in the economy can change the demand for the product at any
given time. The presence of online marketplaces, like Daraz, which have several similar
products can also pose a threat to the growing business and slow down its progress.

3.2.2 Porter’s Five Forces Model

Threat of New Entrant

The threat of new entrants is moderate in the eco-friendly paper product market. Barriers to
entry might be due to the requirement of sustainable sourcing and brand credibility. The
increasing demand for eco-friendly products causes the market to attractive for the new players
but marketing early investments and sustainable processes are costly, which can be a barrier to
entry for some. Along with that, established brands with a good deal of sustainability and active
loyal customers pose a challenge to new entrants.

12 | P a g e
Threat of Substitutes

The Threat of substitute products in the recycling and handmade paper crafting market is high.
There are many additional alternatives such as traditional paper products and other eco-friendly
brands. The switching cost for consumers is low, they can easily switch between brands. To
cope with such a competitive industry, CRAFTZ plans to focus on the differentiated features
of its products, thereby creating brand loyalty among customers and minimizing the potential
for substitution.

Bargaining Power of Buyers

The Buyers in eco-friendly paper product industry have moderate to high bargaining power.
Eco-friendly consumers are educated and demand high quality, sustainable products.
Furthermore, due to the constriction on income of the teenagers and young adults, these group
of people are especially sensitive about price. To overcome this, CRAFTZ. needs to be focused
on delivering value by creating trendy designs; supplying educational content; and offering
compelling pricing strategies.

Bargaining Power of Suppliers

The degree of Supplier Power’s bargaining power is moderate for CRAFTZ. Suppliers of raw
materials play a significant role in the business of CRAFTZ as there is a need for a constant
supply of sustainable raw materials. Hence, the suppliers get some up hand-making decision.
Nevertheless, the increasing number of wastepaper suppliers can be an advantage for CRAFTZ
as it is able to pick and choose from a number of potential suppliers. Ensuring a blend of
supplier sources and creating strategic partnerships with important suppliers lowers the risk
related to supply chain dependencies.

Industry Rivalry

13 | P a g e
There is a high industry rivalry in the recycling and eco-friendly paper product market. Many
rivals offer products that are quite similar to CRAFTZ, which can make the market challenging.
The high pace of expansion among eco-friendly productsmakes the competition even more
fierce as more entrepreneurs are encouraged to start similar businesses. Successful brands in
this market delivery quality products so to do well in the industry CRAFTZ prioritizes focusing
on differentiation, product design and brand identity along with engaging and keping up with
target customers.

14 | P a g e
3.3 Product Offering

notebooks, bookmarks, cards and DIY kits. But as the business grows and the capital increases,
the number of products will be increased based on the present trends of the market.

3.3.1 Papers
The raw papers made directly from the warehouse can be sold wholesale to other art or
stationary businesses as raw material. Or they can be processed into different sizes as for
example, A4 and A5 sheets for regular use, colored paper for arts and craft and textured ones
for the purpose of art. These processed papers can be sold as retail to the customers.

3.3.2 Notebooks

that seek individuality. Different textures and styles can be added which can serve different
purposes. As for example adding texture for coloring books. Margins and lines for daily writing,

Gift items like bookmarks and cards are popular among the youth. By offering customizing

will get a consistent supply of wastepaper. The next step of the process includes investing in

quality of the recycled paper will be ensured by a systematic process.

3.4.2. Handmade Crafting Process

A designate a dedicated workspace for crafting activities, equipped with workstations and tools
for handmade production will be set. The crafts will initially be made by the entrepreneurs

• Sales volume: 20 notebooks and 50 packs of bookmarks per day

• Notebook price: 175 taka per unit
• Bookmark price: 150 taka per pack (5 bookmarks)
• Waste paper cost: 60 taka per kg
• Monthly wastepaper consumption: 1,000 kg
• Printer cost: 7,498 Taka (one-time purchase)
• Thermal label printer cost: 4,411 Taka (one-time purchase)
• Monthly rent: 9,000 Taka
• Monthly utilities: 3,000 Taka
• Customer acquisition cost: 30 taka per customer (estimated)
• Salaries: 12,000 Taka

3.5.2 Key financial Indicator

Monthly Notebook Revenue 105,000

Total Monthly Revenue 330,000

Monthly Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) 60,000

3.5.3 Break-Even Analysis

Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC):

This represents the estimated cost of acquiring each new customer (e.g., advertising, marketing
materials). In our financial plan, we've assumed a cost of 30 taka per customer. This is an
estimate and may vary depending on the marketing strategy.

Break-even Point Calculation:

The break-even revenue:

Break-even Revenue = (Total Fixed Costs + Total Variable Costs)

Total Fixed Costs: 7,498 taka (printer) + 4,411 taka (thermal printer) = 11,909 taka

Total Variable Costs: 60,000 Taka (wastepaper) + (Customer Acquisition Cost * Number of
Customers)

• Assuming an average customer buys one notebook and one pack of bookmarks daily:
o Customers per day = Notebooks sold + Bookmark packs sold = 20 + 50 = 70
customers
o Estimated monthly customers = Customers per day * Days in month = 70
customers/day * 30 days/month = 2,100 customers
• Estimated monthly customer acquisition cost: 2,100 customers * 30 taka/customer =
63,000 taka

Total Variable Costs = 60,000 taka + 63,000 taka = 123,000 taka

Break-even Revenue = 11,909 taka + 123,000 taka = 134,909 taka

CHAPTER 4: CONTRIBUTION TO SOCIETY AND ECONOMY

4.1 Educational Workshop

Participate in informative events where handcrafted items are produced using recycled paper.
This is a really creative approach to encourage people to behave morally and with concern for
the environment. To encourage individuals to participate in their communities and take
environmental action, the approach combines creativity and value. Going over and outlining
the purpose of the lesson before it begins is crucial, especially emphasizing the need of
recycling and wasting less paper. Following that, you have to greet your buddies and review
the objectives. There may then be a section that goes over recycling techniques, environmental
benefits, and local success stories with everyone. People may feel closer to one other and gain
more from in-depth conversations if you encourage them to discuss their personal recycling
practices and concerns. The workshop centers on a hands-on creative session where
participants learn how to handle various types of paper and fundamental crafting equipment.
One may create notebooks out of recycled paper or bands with paper beads. Both of these are
easy crafts that would be much simpler to do with explicit instructions. People learn important
skills and how to creatively repurpose outdated items in this class. It also motivates students to
experiment with other approaches and concepts. Every creative endeavormust include elements
from the actual world. Making environmentally friendly note cards or bookmarks might be one
way to make the message. Talking about how each talent affects the world might assist
inillustrating how they support sustainability. These lovely objects could serve as a constant
reminder to you of the need for recycling and environmental preservation. Working on causes-
related projects should be another way the class stresses social responsibility. One approach to
do this is to support local causes or draw attention to social issues by collaborating with local
neighborhood associations or non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Sometimes those who
enroll in art lessons create items to sell in order to generate money for worthy causes like the
environment or underprivileged people. Planning neighborhood initiatives may also help
individuals collaborate and get involved. One may, for example, hang a large painting created
from discarded paper someplace obvious. "Present and share" is a course-ending event where
students showcase and discuss their work. Telling their groups these things make people feel
better about themselves and increases awareness of the problem. Here is where thinking and

25 | P a g e
criticism are useful. They assist in illustrating at the end the experiences of the users and areas
for improvement. Giving students tools and demonstrating how to accomplish things, the
program ensures that what they learn endures long after the session ends. Giving people
information on recycling regulations, project ideas, and specifics about local recycling
initiatives might be one way to do this. One might also encourage people to form or join local
hobbies or environmental organizations. Expert local guest speakers might help the session
reach more people and have a greater effect. Environmentalists or accomplished craftspeople,
for instance, could speak. Future workshops may include environmental topics or more
sophisticated craft techniques to keep students engaged and inspired to keep learning. An
online community like a Facebook page might be established to keep the class engaged and to
allow members to provide and receive advice and opinions. Lastly, instructive workshops on
handicrafts made from recycled paper might be a useful approach to encourage community
involvement and environmental awareness. People need to be taught practical skills, their
imaginations should be encouraged, and they should become more concerned with social
responsibility and environmental preservation. Getting to know locals and creating things are
included in the courses. Takeaways from the occasion are many. People get the means to
improve their neighborhood and learn more about the need to protect the environment.
Attending the programs improves the lives of those in the community. Attendees of the sessions
also get knowledge about the environment and are urged to live sustainably.

26 | P a g e
4.2 Employment Opportunities

Creating unique products from recycled paper is a terrific approach to generate employment,
particularly in areas with little attention and a large number of unemployed people. Launching
unique, environmentally friendly crafts, jewelry, and interior design small companies or craft
groups is one of the objectives. With these programs, people not only get employment but also
pick up practical skills and achieve financial independence. One may demonstrate to the locals
how to create new items out of old paper. Should business and startup skills be taught in schools,
children may also be prepared for a variety of positions in companies, including management,
sales, marketing, and transportation. Companies that cater to consumers who value the
environment and fair labor are more likely to profit from the increasing demand for these
products. This will raise the value of the goods and link the customer with the manufacturer.
Marketing needs to emphasize how employing recycled materials benefits the environment and
the individual tales of the artists. These companies may profit more if they offer their products
at environmentally friendly trade exhibitions, internet marketplaces, and local markets.
Cooperating with regional NGOs, government initiatives, and environmental support
organizations would be a terrific opportunity for these businesses to expand and recruit
additional staff. Money to support green practices, shared office space, and start-up funds are
just a few ways this assistance is provided. These companies employ individuals for
administrative work, marketing, sales, and customer support in addition to manufacturing
goods. This guarantees that everyone in the community has an equal opportunity of benefiting
from the initiative and helps individuals advance in life. Companies like this change the world
greatly as they provide the underprivileged with a sense of direction and food. They feel better
about themselves, things improve in their life, and after difficult times, their communities
recover. When individuals cooperate to accomplish shared objectives, they might feel as if they
belong in a cooperation. Furthermore, this sort of service could be able to encourage recycling
and educate locals about environmental concerns. Worker-consumers may also start to consider
the globe. Selling home-made, environmentally friendly products to customers worldwide and
bringing in foreign currency to support the expansion of local economies might lead to even
greater employment creation. Working with fair trade organizations could expedite this. They
may also contribute in ensuring that workers in underdeveloped nations get just compensation
and secure working conditions. Giving some of the profits to initiatives that benefit people, or
the environment enhances the company's reputation and benefits the community. More benefits

27 | P a g e
to the environment and society directly flow from successful companies. Finally, particularly
for underprivileged people, handcrafted items made of recycled paper may considerably
enhance employment opportunities. This is so that individuals may advance in society, pick up
new talents, and achieve financial independence. Companies that employ clever marketing,
care about the environment, and build ties with other companies that will support them are
more likely to prosper. More beneficial things will follow for the environment, the economy,
and society.

4.3 Community Engagement

Being engaged in the community involves organizing activities that unite people, generate
income, and educate them about environmental issues. I create items by hand out of recycled
paper. Initially, schedule days when residents may dispose of their old paper during
neighborhood clean-ups. If people believe they are contributing to environmental preservation,
they will be more inclined to recycle directly. Workshops teaching community members—
especially young and impoverished individuals—how to create items out of used paper would
be fantastic during these gatherings. People learn throughout the course not just the value of
recycling but also practical skills that may lead to financial success. Residents may also join
together to create, creating larger pieces of art or public service initiatives using recycled paper.
Displaying these initiatives in public areas might make individuals feel more a part of and
owners of their neighborhood. This is so that people will always remember the value of
cooperation and recycling. To encourage more individuals to participate, local schools and
community organizations may host competitions and displays featuring the finest recycling
paper creations. That will inspire fresh ideas and increase creativity in people. Promotion of
these events in the local media and on social media may increase their popularity. This is so
because bragging about the accomplishments of the community might encourage other
communities to follow. Giving locals work and encouraging them to launch their own small
enterprises or trade associations might also result in long-term financial gains. These
businesses could seek funding and other assistance from regional government programs and
non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in order to perform their work better and expand.
Communities should have feedback sessions and discussions every now and then to ensure that
the initiatives remain inclusive and consider the opinions and wishes of everybody. People are

28 | P a g e
going to cooperate and participate more often. If crafts have a social message, more people will
want to participate. By relating the arts to more general societal ideals and objectives, for
instance, utilizing recycled paper to create items that promote social justice, or the environment
might engage more people. By gathering at markets or exhibitions with handcrafted items and
providing artists with a venue to sell their creations, people might support regional economies.
Schools might be requested to incorporate classes on creating and recycling objects as part of
these initiatives. This is done to ensure that next generations of students understand the value
of creativity and global concern. Having local scientists and artists conduct lectures and provide
advice is one approach to educate and motivate people. Everyone may enjoy participating in
entertaining recycled paper crafts. Mixing practical activities, training programs, and income-
generating opportunities benefits the environment, unites people, and makes everyone feel
proud of what they've accomplished. Every member of the community is aware that treating
people with kindness will immediately benefit the company and the environment. Long term,
it will also benefit from tying environmentally friendly activities to social responsibility. Being
engaged in the community in this instance is attempting to create an environment where
everyone feels respected and protected, where sustainability, problem-solving, and fresh ideas
are encouraged, and where everyone feels like they belong.

4.4 Social Impact Product

Crafts addressing social and environmental concerns and conveying significant messages are
one method to utilize recovered paper to create something with a social effect. The relationship
between the one who created the thing and the ones who will utilize it is strengthened by this
approach. Wall art, notepads, and greeting cards are among items that might feature text and
artwork highlighting social justice issues including equality, human rights, and environmental
preservation. Important information is helped to be remembered by the meaningful writing on
these handcrafted products. People are made more conscious and start talking about them. It
can be that certain community members assist in making these items. At the same time, this
allows children to be creative, learn about significant societal concerns, and contribute to their
resolution. By this approach, the community as a whole and the artists in particular learn about
significant issues. It also allows children a forum to express their opinions, therefore giving
them a voice. Some of the revenue generated by this sort of product may also be donated to

29 | P a g e
neighborhood initiatives or organizations attempting to raise awareness of certain problems. A
favorable social impact and what the customer performs are clearly related, which increases
the value and success of the product. Working together, political parties and non-governmental
organizations (NGOs) might ensure that the funds are appropriately allocated, and the words
are powerful. Every social impact item includes a backstory detailing its creation, its supporter,
and its methodology. Thus, one may utilize these items to tell tales as well. Because it increases
customer desire and provides them with additional information, this tale works well on product
tags, marketing materials, and bags. The use of recycled materials in eco-friendly packaging
may support the commitment to sustainability by ensuring that the product adheres to its
sustainability standards over the duration of its useful life. Meetings between those who create
and sell these items as well as individuals who purchase and utilize them could take place. This
may facilitate the coming together to support one another of those who have similar opinions
and a feeling of community. Through pop-up stores, art exhibits, and the internet, spreading
the word about the products and their backstories could be beneficial. Because more individuals
will be attracted in, the impact will be greater. Social impact projects in the classroom allow
students to study business, social justice, and the environment. They could be motivated to go
on performing these things going forward by this. These initiatives might benefit
underprivileged areas as they provide employment and teach people new skills that can
advance them both socially and financially. Social effect products are thus created and
marketed in a manner that employs action, art, and education to contribute to the equitable
solution of social and environmental issues. Not only can recycled paper social impact goods
look great, but they may also be used to educate, advocate for, and motivate others. Two of
their primary objectives are to really improve the lives of locals and artists. These folks' model
for us how to care for the environment and treat others well.

4.5 Eco friendly packaging

Wrapping handcrafted items with environmentally friendly recycled paper is a fantastic way to
promote sustainability. It is also the final evidence that the product was produced sustainably
and is now in use. Using materials that can be recycled, naturally decompose, or derived from
old products, this packaging ensures that the product is environmentally beneficial for its whole
life. Two environmentally benign packaging materials that may be utilized to protect the

30 | P a g e
contents are Kraft paper and recycled cardboard. Design-wise, less really is more. Stay with
basic components since too much glue and ink might make recycling more difficult. Natural
fibers and colors are better for the environment. The selection of a material is less significant
than ensuring that the packaging is practical and recyclable. Returns of the box will extend its
life and reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills. Making it evident on labels and in
language how environmentally friendly the packaging is may educate people about correct
disposal techniques and the value of being environmentally friendly. This may heighten
people's awareness of how they affect the world. The box may also display the process of
transforming the rubbish into a stunning piece of art. This may, by narrating their history, make
the purchaser feel closer to the recovered paper items they purchased. More details about the
artists, how recycling benefits the environment, and how the purchase improved people's lives
would make this narrative more compelling and complete for purchasers. Working with
environmental organizations to demonstrate that packaging is environmentally friendly might
make it seem more authentic and enticing. This might be fascinating to folks who care about
the environment and want to take positive actions for it. The products will last longer if a
company offers a scheme where clients may return empty or old boxes to be recovered or used
again. The environment benefits from this and returning business does too. Consumers may be
able to learn how to recycle, learn more about how the product is environmentally friendly,
and how they may contribute to larger environmental initiatives by using digital tools like QR
codes on packaging. Customers who already do business with a firm will value its dedication
to sustainability if environmentally friendly packaging is a component of its entire strategy. It
demonstrates, in commercial terms, how much the firm values the quality of its products and
the state of the environment. Less packaging waste means that businesses may also save money
by adopting environmentally friendly practices. This is so that they may not have to spend as
much to produce goods or dispose of waste. Utilizing environmentally friendly packaging
composed of recycled paper is another crucial step in encouraging consumers to see themselves
as long-term, responsible consumers. If companies employ basic, biodegradable, and reusable
materials, emphasize the need of making things functional and reusable, and integrate
educational and narrative components, their environmental impact may be substantially
reduced. These tactics include and educate consumers in addition to returning the favor to the
environment. Apart from promoting goods, they also endeavor to arouse in people
environmental and moral concerns. Making environmentally responsible packaging for
handcrafted products that improves their appearance and raises their value may be

31 | P a g e
accomplished with meticulous planning, cooperation, and inspiration. Long term, this will
contribute to improvements.

4.6 Collaboration with NGOs

Working with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to create innovative initiatives out of

old paper is a terrific approach to use their strength, resources, and expertise to improve the
world. In some respects, NGOs that promote social justice, community development, or
environmental preservation may benefit the crafts sector. They may, for instance, link
companies to cash, grants, and training programs in addition to connecting them with
prospective clients and offering company management guidance. Environmentally concerned
non-governmental organizations might ensure that the production process is sustainable. They
could, for instance, counsel individuals on how to recycle and dispose of waste or educate them
how to create in environmentally friendly ways. Cooperation with non-governmental
organizations may make it simpler to ensure that everyone has a fair opportunity to succeed in
the crafts industry. Perhaps these organizations can assist in getting to unsafe or impoverished
areas. Working with NGOs may provide firms with access to local networks and expertise.
They acquire influence and trust among peers and discover what the community wants and
needs in this manner. People may learn more about doing the right thing and taking care of the
environment if these ties facilitate the administration of public awareness campaigns and the
presentation of their arguments. Helping to promote and sell handcrafted products at events or
via other means of communication is one approach for an NGO to increase demand for such
products. Working with non-governmental organizations (NGOs), a company might be able to
examine how its actions affect people and the environment and find better ways to do things.
Programs using recovered paper to improve and extend the life of household items might
benefit from the assistance of non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Cooperation to
complete tasks benefits both the individual and the environment.

4.7 Public Art Installation

32 | P a g e
Public recycled paper art is a creative and successful approach to encourage conversation about
sustainability and environmental awareness. These artworks are striking visual reminders of
the need of recycling and reuse by transforming commonplace objects into vibrant works of
art. Since the majority of these pieces are composed of recycled paper, it is evident that they
may be both artistic and ecologically beneficial. Collaborating on these initiatives might make
local artists, environmental organizations, and locals feel as if they have a stake in the outcome.
Public art, such as the interactive video displays and stunning statues, may evoke strong
emotions in people from all walks of life. Important environmental issues may be brought to
the forefront of their minds by this, and perhaps even action. These exhibits may include
interesting sections or instructive placards that establish the setting and pique your curiosity
more. Furthermore, one may utilize these to protest and educate. Placement of public art works
in areas with high population density or gatherings may encourage people to behave in more
environmentally friendly and amiable ways. On these large projects, businesses, neighborhood
associations, and local governments might want to collaborate in order to divide expenses, get
permits, and organize the implementation of the projects. The initiatives will run smoothly and
for a long period as a result. Good things may come of public art.

4.8 Storytelling Through Crafts

Craft-based story telling is a wonderful approach to promote sustainability and social

awareness while also sharing tales, ideas, and emotions. When artists include personal themes
and stories in their work, it may have a profound impact on individuals and communities. These
items could be used for more purposes than just functionality. They may be used for narratives
and cultural displays as well. Whatever is created is a means of exploring tales, whether it is
via intricate patterns, significant topics, or well selected materials. It allows individuals to relate
to the tales concealed therein. After a natural calamity, certain members of a community
cooperated to repair and reconstruct. Such may be indicated by a blanket fashioned from
leftover cloth. Conversely, a clay bowl decorated by hand might depict local legends or
historical events. Makers give each item significance and value by using their ideas, cultural
background, and life experiences. Thus, the whole process of creating anything resembles a
tale. Stories with projects may also be used to educate various populations about social and
environmental concerns as well as to foster empathy and concern for others. Making art

33 | P a g e
addressing issues like social justice, climate change, and the preservation of previous cultures
is one way that artists may spark discussions and inspire people to take action to better the
world. Working with regional activists, historians, or artists might make story sharing simpler.
Important viewpoints and fresh concepts might be added to them to strengthen the well-written
narrative. Shows, courses, and neighborhood gatherings may enable more individuals to learn
how to tell tales and improve upon the traditional methods. People feel a feeling of connection
and belonging, and the cultural past is preserved in part via this. Ultimately, story-telling
initiatives are a delightful approach for individuals of all ages to express their creativity,
exchange tales, and get to know one another.

CHAPTER 5: CONCLUSION

CRAFTZ is an environmental responsibility, and creative self-expression. CRAFTZ stands out

a shining example of modern business spirit that is equal parts sustainable and imaginative.
Our journey began with a simple yet powerful vision: to turn trash into art and to help people
transform the free world into a more beautiful place. In finishing up the full-blown business
plan formulated here, we need to revisit our why, how, and where and what we aspire to be
next for CRAFTZ. By promoting paper recycling throughout our company and creating
handmade products, we want to make a stand against the demeanors of the environment,
product by product. Through our cooperation with the local newspapers, institutions and
recycling centers, we guarantee the constant supplies of the waste paper and, at the same time,
save the environments from the additional amount of the non-degradable waste production by
turning the used papers into the unique and beautiful pieces of the creative stationery and gifts.

Our mission is clear: to encourage younger people to reconsider their production and
representation of themselves through constantly creating cognitive looks of garbage
art .However, more than anything, CRAFTZ has the goal and mission to educate people about
saving the environment and pack creativity into people so they have no other way but to unleash
it. Consumers now have a desire for goods with meaning each unique to the individual.
Whether it is a notebook that has been customized to individual needs, a hand made greeting
card, or a craft kit that has been creatively built, each and every CRAFTZ product has a story
to tell, and this story is one that can only be related to speaking of sustainability, creativity and
the choice to consume responsibly.

However, I sincerely acknowledged the different challenges such as- acquiring a sufficient
quantity of recycled paper, controlling the costs of production, and promoting a line of
handmade products. Therefore to overcome these challenges our business need to plan
strategically, find new ways of approaching issues or may be partner with customers. As a
small business firm, there might be some limitations such as lack of adequate capital,
appropriate special equipment, adequate space etc. This could lead to a limitation in terms of
production capacity and the overall flexibility of the enterprise. Hand made crafts may take
quite a long time to prepare and demonstrate so the problem of quality, quantity and reasonable

35 | P a g e
expenditures puts us on the-Unanimity. With regards to its legal requirement, it will be
necessary depending on the establishment’s location, to ascertain to the rules and regulations
governing the recycling or disposal of the materials, waste management, and product safety.
With regard to crafting which is indeed a complex process, our team has all the necessary skills
to do it. This is the reason why managing our inventories and cash flows can at times be a very
big problem for us.

However, we may find a purpose and devotion to make our business progress in the long run.
In order to attain this, our team needs to be always ready to change and learn, be consistent and
aspiring in looking for new ways that provide progress to change the current state. We observe
that our key areas of focus; quality, customization and the recognition of the community we
are in at an edge of our rivals. In order to set a hook deeper and to distinguish itself in the midst
of numerous similar firms, one must offer the product which is different from others, create an
identity with the people concerned and involved, and take responsibility for creating an
environment of interaction and interest.

I give a lot of credit to our very detailed and thorough operational plan that will cover all aspects
of the business, from acquiring paper, to recycling, product development, marketing, and even
distribution. To this end, working with the regular suppliers and transportation companies of
the regional level, purchasing new and non-recycled equipment, and having a strict policy to
control the quality of producible items, each CRAFTZ item is elaborated and produced to the
highest professional standard. Through the convenience of our website and selling our products
through e-commerce, we cater for everyone who prefers shopping online, while our selling at
local markets, art fairs and environment-friendly events enable us have a direct interaction with
our clientele.

In conclusion, CRAFTZ is not only a business but a movement, a start, and the evidence of the
capability of man to transform something as simple as a cup and turn it into a project that
creates an impact in the world. So, welcome to the story, and welcome to the mission: to help
make the world a better place at the junction of technology and humanity. Altogether, it is
possible to dream of recycling the waste into cards and other artifacts and giving them a new
life.

To a brighter and greener future with CRAFTZ.
