ABSTRACT

The students do not have good confidence to speak English. The teacher needed a
new technique which more interesting and fun in teaching speaking skill. The
objective of this study was to find out the influence of guessing game in speaking
skill at the 8th grade students from Mts Al-Muhtarom Ma’arif 08 Buminabung in
academic years 2020/2021.The research design of this study is an experimental
research design which used quantitative research.This research was conducted by
the researcher at students of the eight grade of Mts Al-Muhtarom Ma`arif 08
Buminabung. In this research, the researcher had to determine the population
before collecting the samples. The populations were the students of the eighth
grade of Mts Al-Muhtarom Ma`arif 08 Buminabung, which consist of six classes.
There is an effect of guessing game in speaking ability at the 8 th grade students’ of
Mts Al-Muhtarom Ma’arif 08 Buminabung in academic years 2020/2021. There were
two classes used in this research, the experimental and control group, the
measurement showed that increasing line of the speaking ability of the experimental
group was higher than the control group. Students should do much practice in
speaking English. English teacher should improve their knowledge of the use of
guessing games in teaching speaking.This research result can be used as theoritical
references for the sake of improving English teaching quality and English learning
process especially in teaching speaking.
