Module 4 week 2

Rule/guideline of Thirds
- Imagine the camera has 9 squares within it: main focus along the seems makes
for a more pleasing look

Head Room
- Don't leave too much room at top: creates dead space
- More acceptable to crop top of head during closeup

Different types of shots


- wide/full shot: shows scenery and characters
- Medium: Brings audience close to characters instead of scenery
- Close shot: dedicates majority of frame to subject

Directions
- Movement direction for the talent can help show the character (if they're an
antagonist or protagonist
- On left looking to the right = looking towards the future
- Shortsided = actor positioned on the same side they’re looking, makes them
look/feel trapped
- Actor in center is perceived as balanced

Leading lines
- How the eyes may move down the frame, line a long line or an s shape
