(a) Discuss the Diffusion Principle and Specular

Reflection Principle used for Street Lighting
installations.

(b) An area 300 meter x 45 meter has to be

illuminated by Projector lamps 1000 watts each.
Illumination level required is 8 Lux., Efficiency of
Lamp is 18 Lumens/watt, beam factor 0.4,
maintenance factor 0.67 and waste light factor
~ 1.2. Find the number of projectors required.
(c) Describe various light fittings used for Indoor
lighting giving special applications of each one of
them. What are the qualities sought in the fittings
meant for outdoor installations?

(a) Discuss the mechanism of Train Movement and
explain the role of coefficient of adhesion on
tractive effort and braking.
(b) A train runs at an average speed of 50 kmph
between stations situated 2.5 km apart. Train
accelerates at 2 kmphps and retards at 3 kmphps.
Find its maximum speed, assuming simplified
Trapezoidal speed time curve. Draw the speed
time curve for the run and also calculate the
distance travelled by it before the brakes are
applied.
(c) Name the different refrigeration systems. Draw
