In the past few years, so much has changed in the world of
work. It used to be possible to make decisions about one’s future and plan a career
and a future path. Now, in an economy where job security is a thing of the past, lay-
offs are common, and people change jobs and careers frequently, planning a career
may seem overwhelming. We believe it is possible to look at an unpredictable
world and feel confident about career potential. The skills for building career
success are different than before, and that is why we wrote this text.
