ENM401 - SPEAKING EXAMINATION

( 8-9 minutes/ pair)


Students take this test in pairs and must complete three parts of the test.
Part 1. The students introduce themselves. Then the examiner asks them several
questions about their self-introduction.
Part 2. The students make conversation about a topic.
Part 3. The examiner asks the students 3-4 follow-up questions about the topic.

PART 1: SELF-INTRODUCTION_SOCIAL ENGLISH


Each student introduces himself or herself in 20 seconds. Then the examiner asks 2 or
3 questions related to their self-introduction.

PART 2: CONVERSATION

Topic 1: Talk about a time when you communicated with a poor communicator from
a company or service.
You should include:
- Place where the person works
- Content of the conversation
- Reasons why you think he/she is bad at communicating
- Your feelings about it.

Topic 2: Talk about a brand's advertising campaign that you have heard or seen.
You should include:
- Name of the brand
- Its country of origin
Its target market
- The advertising campaign that the brand uses
- Your feelings about it.

Topic 3: Talk about companies’ successful partnership you know.


You should include:
- Name of companies
- Their location
- Time when they established their partnership
- Their products/business
- Reasons why you think their partnership is successful.

Topic 4: Talk about someone you know who finds satisfying about his/her work.
You should include:
- The person’s name
- His/her occupation
- His or her achievements in his/her work
- Factors that drive his/her job satisfaction.
Topic 5: Talk about a company you know failed to manage risks.
You should include:
- Name of the company
- Its location
- Its business/products
- Possible causes for its failure.

Topic 6: Talk about a successful financial services institution that you know.
You should include:
- Name of the company
- Its location
- Time of its establishment
- Factors that contribute to its success.

Topic 7: Talk about a time when you received excellent customer service.
You should include:
- Time when you experienced the service
- Its provider
- Its description
- Your feelings about it
