0 DESIGN PERCEPTION
INTRODUCTION
Design perception in architecture refers to how
people experience and perceive the built
environment through their visual senses. It
involves the manipulation of various elements
such as lighting, color, texture, and scale to create
a desired perception or impression in the viewer's
mind.

Studies show that different spaces evoke different TRANSFORMATION OF FORM

emotions, yet it is still hard to tell exactly how
architecture induces them.
PHYSCIOLOGICAL EFFECTS OF SPACES
- Space conveys both physiological and
psychological effects
- All forms can be interpreted as transformations of
the primary solids, variations which are generated
by the manipulation of one or more dimensions by
the addition or subtraction of elements.

• Large, unbroken spaces are serene, yet bold and
dramatic
• Small, broken spaces suggest delicacy and

information, characterizing the human body, its
