OXYGEN SYSTEM - SERVICING

1. Servicing

A. Charge the Oxygen Bottle (See Figure 301.)


(1) Acquire necessary tools and equipment.

NOTE: Equivalent substitutes may be used in lieu of the following:

(2) Disconnect electrical power from the aircraft. (Refer to 24-40-00.)


(3) On Aircraft equipped with dorsal oxygen system, open the access door on the dorsal fin to gain
access to the oxygen bottle and the charging valve.
(4) On Aircraft equipped with nose oxygen system, open the access door on the RH side of the nose
compartment to gain access to the oxygen bottle and the charging valve.
(5) Remove the cap from the charging valve.
(6) Connect the oxygen source to the oxygen servicing connector.
(7) Connect the oxygen servicing connector to the charging valve.
(8) Slowly open the valve on the oxygen source and charge the oxygen bottle to the pressure shown
in Figure 301.
(9) Monitor the oxygen pressure gage on the instrument panel as the bottle is charged.
(10) When the oxygen bottle is charged, close the oxygen source valve.
(11) Disconnect the oxygen servicing connector and oxygen source from the oxygen bottle.
(12) Install the cap on the charging valve.
(13) Check charging valve cap for leaks.

WARNING: YOU MUST MAKE SURE THAT THE SHUTOFF VALVE/REGULATOR ASSEMBLY
IS ON BEFORE THE OXYGEN SERVICE DOOR IS CLOSED.

(14) Make sure that the shutoff valve/regulator assembly is on.


(15) Close oxygen service door.

B. Deplete the Oxygen Bottle Pressure (See Figure 301.)

NOTE: The oxygen bottle may be removed from the aircraft and the oxygen depleted in a safe
open area.

(1) Acquire necessary tools and equipment.

NOTE: Equivalent substitutes may be used in lieu of the following:

Hose (Length as required) Compatible with oxygen. Commercially Available Deplete oxygen bottle
pressure.

(2) Disconnect electrical power from the aircraft. (Refer to 24-40-00.)


(3) On Aircraft equipped with dorsal oxygen system, open the access door on the dorsal fin to gain
access to the oxygen bottle and the charging valve.
(4) On Aircraft equipped with nose oxygen system, open the access door on the RH side of the nose
compartment to gain access to the oxygen bottle and the charging valve.
(5) If necessary, remove the oxygen bottle from the aircraft.(Refer to 35-20-01.)
(6) Close the shutoff valve/regulator assembly.
(7) Disconnect the regulated pressure tube from the shutoff valve/regulator assembly.
(8) Connect a clean hose to the open fitting on the shutoff valve/regulator assembly.

WARNING: THE OXYGEN PRESSURE MUST BE RELEASED TO A SAFE OPEN AREA AWAY
FROM THE AIRCRAFT.

(9) Slowly open the shutoff valve/regulator assembly and release the oxygen pressure to an open
area away from the aircraft.
(10) When the oxygen pressure is depleted, close the shutoff valve/regulator assembly.
(11) Disconnect the hose from the fitting on the shutoff valve/regulator assembly.
(12) Connect the regulated pressure tube to the shutoff valve/regulator assembly.
(13) Connect electrical power to the aircraft. (Refer to 24-40-00.)
(14) Close oxygen service door.
