Shashi Tharoor Receives France's Highest Civilian Honor:
 Shashi Tharoor was bestowed with the Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur France, France's highest
civilian honor.
 He received this honor in August 2022, with a formal conferring taking place on 20 February 2024.
 Tharoor, also recognized as a "Global Leader of Tomorrow" by the World Economic Forum, currently
chairs the Standing Committee on Chemicals and Fertilizers.

Changes in National Film Awards Categories:


 The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting removed the names of Indira Gandhi and Nargis Dutt
from National Film Awards categories.
 The 'Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film of a director' was renamed 'Best Debut Film of a Direc-
tor'.
 Similarly, the 'Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration' was renamed 'Best Fea-
ture Film Promoting National, Social and Environmental Values'.
 These changes were made to uphold the essence of the awards in fostering Indian art and culture
while aligning with contemporary values.

 The Filmfare Awards, initiated in 1954, are a significant recognition of excellence within the Hindi film

 "Black" (2005) holds the record for the most number of Filmfare awards won in a single year,
with 11 awards across various categories.
REC Wins Innovative Technology Development Award:
 REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, received
the 'Innovative Technology Development Award' at the IIT Madras CSR Summit.
 The award was in acknowledgment of REC's installation of a 2 MW rooftop solar plant at IIT Madras.
 REC has previously been honored with awards such as the Global CSR Leadership Awards in 2023 and
the PSE Excellence Award for CSR in 2023.

REC Receives Best Corporate Green Bond Award:


 REC Limited was awarded the Best Corporate Green Bond at The Asset Triple A Awards for Sustainable
Finance 2024.
 This recognition was for REC's issuance of $750 million USD Green Bonds in April 2023, marking India's
first USD Green Bond issuance post its assumption of the G20 Presiden

India Wins 'Measles And Rubella Champion' Global Award:


 India received the 'Measles and Rubella Champion' award for its exceptional efforts in combating
these diseases.
 Ambassador Sripriya Ranganathan accepted the award on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Family
Welfare at the American Red Cross Headquarters in Washington.
 The award recognizes India's commitment to public health and its leadership in controlling the spread
of these diseases, especially among children.

Ministry of Tourism Hosts 'Design Challenge' Award Ceremony:


 The Ministry of Tourism organized an award ceremony for the winners of the 'Design Challenge: Eco-
Friendly Cutlery and Crockery to Substitute Single Use Plastic' in New Delhi.
 The event featured an exhibition of edible crockery and cutlery.
 Notable attendees included D.G. (Tourism) Ms. Manisha Saxena, Senior Economic Advisor Mr. Gyan

T.M. Krishna Receives Sangita Kalanidhi Award:


 Carnatic vocalist T.M. Krishna was honored with the Sangita Kalanidhi award by the Music Academy for
2024.
 The award was announced by N. Murali, president of the Music Academy, during a performance by
Krishna at the memorial of St. Thyagaraja in Thiruvaiyaru.
 Other awardees include mridangam player Parasala Ravi and vocalist Geetha Raja for Sangita Kala

Prabha Varma Wins Saraswati Samman for Malayalam Poetry:


 Renowned poet Prabha Varma was selected for the Saraswati Samman for 2023 for his work in Ma-
layalam poetry, particularly for his collection "Roudra Sathwikam."
 The award recognizes his contributions to literature from 2013 to 2022.

Professor Emeritus James Boyce Wins Global Inequality Research Award:


 Professor Emeritus James K. Boyce was awarded the Global Inequality Research Award (GiRA) jointly by
the World Inequality Lab and Sciences Po’s Center for Research on Social Inequalities for his significant
contributions to understanding global inequalities.

ISRO Receives Aviation Week Laureates Award for Chandrayaan-3 Mission:


 ISRO was honored with the Aviation Week Laureates Award for its achievements in the Chandrayaan-3
mission.
 The award acknowledges ISRO's successful landing at the lunar South Pole with a modest cost of $75
million.
 Additionally, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) approved the name 'Station Shiv Shakti' for
the landing site of Chandrayaan-3's lander.

IndiGo Named 'Airline of the Year' at Air Transport Awards 2024:


 IndiGo was recognized as the 'Airline of the Year' at the Air Transport Awards 2024 in Athens, Greece.
 The airline's achievement includes operating 2,000 daily flights and carrying 100 million passengers in
a year.

 Michel Talagrand of the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) was awarded the 2024
Abel Prize for his work in probability theory and stochastic processes.

 NLC India Ltd (NLCIL) received the GEEF Global Environment Award 2024 in the mining category for its

Prof. B.R. Kamboj Receives M.S. Swaminathan Award:


 Prof. B.R. Kamboj, Vice Chancellor of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, was
