Task 1: The graph below gives information about the price of bananas in four countries
between 1984 and 2004. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main
features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The line graph illustrate the costs of bananas in Japan, France, Germany and USA from
1994 to 2004.
As can be seen from the chart, the costs of bananas in Japan and American increased, but
the opposite was true for the figure for France and Germany during the given timescales.
Besides, the prices of bananas were the highest in Japan and the lowest in USA.
In the first year, the costs of bananas in Japan was the highest, with nearly $2 per kilogram,
compared to about $1.6/kg and $1.4/kg of France and Germany. The figure for USA hold the
least position, with about only $0.8/kg.
From that time to 2004, banana prices in Japan increased and reach a peak of about $2.8/kg
in 1995 before witnessed a constant fluctuation to $2.5/kg in the last year. France and
Germany recorded a similar pattern over the period. There was a moderate decline in the
price of bananas in both country, with about $1.5 and $1.1 respectively. In contrast, the
figure in America was climb to about $1/kg.
