Normandy: a place in France, close to England

The most important language was French.

England and France were by the same king.

In 1204, King Jhon of England lost Normandy.

Many English speakers died because of the Black Death.

England lost Normandy; French was not the most important language. People started to feel English

again.

England and France were not friends, so they went on war: The Hundred Years War.

Old English: Past and Present.


Middle English:
Past, Present and Future.

Many words from French (marriage, madam) and Old English (ask, king).

People began to have last names.

Chaucer (poet, politician), the most important writer.

Look for information about Gunpowder; the Execution of the King James I, and the Great Fire.
