COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course deals with the nature of identity, as well as the factors and
forces that affect the development and maintenance of personal
identity. The directive to Know Oneself has inspired
countless and varied ways to comply. Among the questions that
everyone has had to grapple with at one time or other is “Who am I?”
At no other period is this question asked more urgently
than in adolescence - traditionally believed to be a time of
vulnerability and great possibilities. Issues of self and identity are
among the most critical for the young.
COURSE CONTENTS
★ PART 1
Seeks to understand the construct of the self from various disciplinal perspectives:

philosophy, sociology, anthropology, and psychology – as well as the more traditional

division between the East and West

★ PART 2
Explores some of the various aspects that make up the self, such as the biological and

material up to and including the more recent Digital Self.

★ PART 3
Identifies three areas of concern for young students: learning, goal setting, and managing

stress.

This course will be delivered online via the


University’s Online Learning Management System (LMS) at
http://masaolms.carsu.edu.ph/ with scheduled synchronous
classes. Only students officially enrolled in this course shall be
given access to the course’ LMS page.
ACADEMIC INTEGRITY
A. The students in this course are expected to abide academic integrity.
This further means that cheating of answers during class activity as
part of the class’ assessments is strictly prohibited. Any work submitted
by a students must be his/her original work in order to be
acknowledged.
B. Uploaded video lectures, handouts, and activity sheets are intellectually
owned by the faculty involved in developing the learning materials.
Thus, students are prohibited to reproduce it for sale, to make use of
those learning resources beyond educational purposes, and/or to make
fun in any form in social media.
ACADEMIC INTEGRITY
C. The students are not allowed to ask anyone to log their LMS account
during the online class on their behalf whenever absent or not
available due to any emerging concerns. Instead, the students are
instructed to inform their teachers/facilitators whenever they have
missed a schedule in order to assess and weigh the presented
concern/s for possible consideration.
D. Collaboration and sharing of answers related to academic
requirements in this course will only be allowed if instructed.
