Student Book: It has eight units and each unit is divided into six lessons, which focus on vocabulary,
grammar, reading, listening and writing. It also provides students with grammar reference, practice
and exam practice which can be found at the back of the book.

Speaking: Speaking activities in Harmonize provide students with many opportunities to practise
accuracy and fluency and to develop their competence in linguistic communication. Therefore, encourage
your students to interact with their partners as naturally as possible.

Listening: Listening is an important part of language development and can help improve oral production.
Harmonize gives students opportunities to practise listening in a realistic way, so make the most of it by
using the class audio at all times.

Video: There are different kinds of videos offering listening comprehension practice.

Writing: Types of writing: see 2024 Types of writing for Teens and Adults on our web site
For further practice you may consult “Successful writing Upper-Intermediate” by V.Evans.

Writing Workshop: This section in the workbook is compulsory, we suggest you deal with it in class and
assign a piece of writing for homework.

Workbook: It is divided into units which correspond to those in the Student Book. Students consolidate
language learned in class with grammar, vocabulary and reading activities in the Workbook.

Teacher’s Guide. It contains the Student Book, class audio, videos and animations, games, interactive
activities, workbook with answer key, different types of tests (including unit tests) photocopiable material,
grammar and vocabulary worksheets available at three levels (basic, standard and challenge) extra
interactive practice of the four skills, grammar, vocabulary and methodology support to maximize your
teaching.

READER: We advise you to consult www.cambridge.org/elt/readers to download the corresponding


worksheets for further practice. We suggest you use the audio to help students to further develop their
listening skills.

Please help your students develop their reading skills by encouraging them to read the story and
exploit it through different activities. By no means should you give them just a summary to study
by heart.

Students are expected to read the story at home, not in class.

COMPLEMENTARY MATERIAL: You may also use the PHOTOCOPIABLE MATERIAL in


English File Upper Intermediate Teacher’s Book, which includes Grammar, Vocabulary and
Communication Activities that you may select to use with your group according to their needs/skills
and the TIME you have.

BOOKLET WITH EXTRA SUPPORT MATERIAL: You can use the material in the booklet to teach
and practise Relative Clauses (both defining and non-defining) You will find it on our website.
