LUTUNG KASARUNG
LUTUNG KASARUNG
ORIENTATION

In ancient times, there lived two beautiful sisters,

princesses of the Pasundan Kingdom. They were
Purbararang and Purbasari. Although they were
sisters, their attitudes were very
different.Purbararang was arrogant and lazy.
Purbasari, on the other hand, was friendly and
diligent, and never considered herself a king's
daughter.
LUTUNG KASARUNG
COMPLICATION
Towards the end of his life, the king appointed his youngest
daughter, Purbasari, to continue the throne. Knowing this, Purbararang
was furious and did not approve of his younger sister becoming
queen.Purbararang then went to a witch to curse his sister with a skin
disease. In an instant, Purbasari's skin was covered with disgusting
black spots.

Because of the disease, Purbasari had to leave the palace and

was exiled to the forest. After driving Purbasari away, Purbararang felt
very guilty. At the same time, there was a commotion in khayangan
because Prince Guruminda did not want to be married unless the
woman was as beautiful as his mother.
LUTUNG KASARUNG
COMPLICATION

He was then told that a woman as

beautiful as his mother only existed on earth.
With his strength, Prince Guruminda finally
descended to earth and arrived in the same
forest where Purbasari was exiled. Not as a
prince, he descended to earth in the form of
an ape, later called Lutung Kasarung.
LUTUNG KASARUNG
Resolution
While in the forest, Purbasari and Lutung Kasarung
became close friends who understood each other. Lutung
Kasarung realized his love for Purbasari. He then understands
that love is not only about beauty, because one day the beauty
will disappear with age. Long story short, Lutung Kasarung
asks Purbasari to clean herself in a lake. Miraculously,
Purbasari's skin returned to its original state and her beauty
was restored, then Lutung Kasarung was transformed into a
human being. Knowing Purbasari's condition, Purbararang,
who had been overwhelmed with guilt, was both happy and
disbelieving. After apologizing, he gladly accepted Purbasari
back to the kingdom and let her resume the throne. They lived
happily.
