Your Fees Explained

School Fees
The boarding fees for 2023/2024 are £15,534 per term. This covers tuition costs for the
standard curriculum, food and accommodation, laundry, the facilities and travel for most
sports and games, and personal accident insurance.

The day with bed fees are £12,738 per term. Overnight stays are charged at £58.63 per night
and added to your bill termly in arrears.

The day only (no bed) fees are £10,350 per term, with no option for overnight stays.

The fees will be reviewed by the Governors during the course of your child’s education and
they may increase in accordance with our terms and conditions.

Fees are payable 7 days before the start of term by direct debit or bank transfer.

Fee bills are published to the Parent Portal and an email will be sent out from the Finance
Director when they are available to view. For the most up-to-date information on fees
please see www.bryanston.co.uk/fees. The Terms and Conditions are available to view
on the website.

Fees in Advance Scheme

Bryanston operates a Fees in Advance (FIA) scheme that provides fee payers (parents,
grandparents, guardians or others) the opportunity to make an advance lump sum
payment towards future School fees for all, or part, of the pupil’s time at School. The FIA
scheme is available for current pupils and prospective pupils who have registered with
Bryanston. The minimum number of terms to be covered is four terms and the maximum
is the lesser of fifteen terms or the pupil’s remaining time at the School.

In return for a lump sum advance payment the School offers fee payers a discount against
future fees and guarantees a credit that will be applied to each term’s fee invoice. The
rate of discount allowed by the School is kept under constant review. Once payment is
made the rate of discount agreed will apply for the whole period covered by the advance
payment.

In the event of a future announcement by a Labour Government that VAT will apply to
school fees, we anticipate that it is unlikely that VAT would be retrospectively imposed on
fees already paid in advance, though we cannot of course guarantee there will not be
special rules introduced to prevent this.

If you are interested in making a lump sum payment please contact the Finance
Director (finance@bryanston.co.uk) for further information or visit the School’s
website.
Endsleigh Pupils' £600k Personal Accident Insurance – included within the School fee is
personal accident cover; pupils are automatically insured. Details will be sent out
separately.

At an additional charge, but optional and on an opt-in basis, the premiums in

respect of two other Endsleigh insurance schemes could also appear on your
termly account:

Endsleigh Pupils’ Personal Effects Insurance. The School regrets that it is unable to
accept responsibility for loss, damage or theft of the personal property of pupils. Parents
can cover their child’s property on an “All Risks” basis for up to £2,000 for a single item
and £5,000 total sum insured. Your child will not be included in the scheme unless you
elect to opt-in. Details will be sent out separately.

Endsleigh Pupil Absence Insurance. Fees and any agreed supplemental charges will not
normally be reduced or refunded as a result of absence due to illness or otherwise.
Parents may be able to receive a refund of fees if their child is absent from School by
paying an additional sum each term. Your child will not be included in the scheme unless
you elect to opt-in.

If you would like to take advantage of these schemes, please respond to the information
email you will receive or contact the Finance Bursary (finance@bryanston.co.uk)

Additional charges you will also find on your termly bill are the membership fees of the
Bryanston Parents’ Association and Beyond Bryanston (the Alumni Association) both of
which can be opted out from.

Other costs, because they vary so much from child to child, are charged as extras. To avoid
unwelcome surprises at your first end of term account, we thought it would be helpful were
you to understand at the outset the type of charge that you are likely to see added to the bill
as an extra. Extras fall into three broad categories - educational, recreational and personal
- and seem to average out at £500 per term, but very much depend on the activities chosen
by your child.

Educational extras
All Bryanston pupils pay for their own textbooks and stationery. Text books that are still
in current use and that are required for study in subsequent terms may be returned to the
Shop when no longer required by pupils for study. Such book returns will be bought back
by the School at their second-hand value (up to 50% of the price paid), provided they are
unmarked and the covers undamaged.

Individual music tuition is charged termly in arrears - £340 per term per instrument (for up
to 30 lessons per year). Instrument hire is charged at £31.50 per term, including piano hire
to cover tuning and maintenance. Music students also bear the cost of sheet music
purchased for their own use. Notice period of half a term is required, particularly if you
choose not to continue with music tuition at the end of Year D. Please check the terms
and conditions on the music booking form.
Individual tuition, where a need has been identified and agreed with parents, will be
charged as an extra. Lessons are charged in arrears at £47.00 for a 35 minute lesson in the
following areas: English as an Additional Language (EAL), Maths Support and Learning
Support.

External examination fees are charged, as are materials used in art, sculpture, pottery and
design and technology. In certain circumstances special arrangements made for
examinations are chargeable.

Participation in School outings and expeditions that do not form an integral part of the
curriculum are also charged as extras.

Recreational extras
There are a large number of groups, clubs and societies to which pupils might choose to
belong; the charge for membership varies in line with the complexity and cost of the
activity. Furthermore, a number of weekend trips, activities and events are now arranged
for pupils and some of these will attract a charge.

Rowing – from £75 per term if chosen as a sports option

Kayaking - £40 termly
Sailing - Summer term £27.00 per session (2022/2023)
Squash - Private tuition can be arranged and charged in addition
Tennis - Private tuition can be arranged and charged in addition
Dance - £6 per session
Speech and Drama - £340 termly
Duke of Edinburgh - registration fees and expedition costs
Equestrian - horse riding lessons are £315 for 10 lessons on average per term. Livery
charges can be obtained from Sophie Starr on sos@bryanston.co.uk
Autumn Fireworks - £8 (2022/2023)
Main School Drama Production - £13.50 (2022/2023)
Clay Pigeon Shooting
Various ECAs

Personal expenditure
For the convenience of pupils and their parents, there are a number of items of essentially
personal expenditure that may be charged as extras. These might include:

School shop - sports kit and equipment, stationery and personal items can be purchased
from the shop and will be itemised on the bill at the end of each term
Transport charges - for exeat and end/start of term transport, and occasional taxi charges
Theatre tickets for performances in the Coade Hall
House parties and social events
School photographs
Dry cleaning charges - for items of clothing that cannot be cared for by our School laundry
Charges for culpable damage
Private medical treatment for pupils - and the cost of immunisations
Transport for Hospital Treatment
The Bryanston campus is cashless so pupils will need to have either a debit card, pre-paid
card or electronic form of payment i.e. Applepay.

Should you have any questions, at any time, relating to extras charged to your
account, in the first instance please contact the Finance Bursary
(finance@bryanston.co.uk or 01258 484626).
