Good morning, my name is Alba Seoane, and with my classmate, Eva Aranda, we are going to

talk about what makes Andalusia so unique.

The first thing I would like to tell is a brief introduction about this region. Andalusia is one of
the biggest communities of Spain, and it has 8.4 million of inhabitants, who are distributed in 8
provinces. Five of these have beaches.

In this presentation we are going to talk about the andalusian festivals and costumes, the most
typical foods, some emblematic landscapes of this region, and lastly we are going to comment
some relevant andalusian characters.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As I said, we are going to start talking about our famous parties; and the first one I´m going to
talk about is “La Romería del Rocío”. This party is a traditional party celebrated in spring.
Thousands of people from different places of Spain go to Huelva, where it´s celebrated, to
spend a week dancing, singing, riding horses and paying homage to the Virgin, until the
“Madrugá”, where a nocturnal procession takes place.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Holy Week in Andalusia is celebrated in all provinces and their towns. Although here in Linares
we enjoy some spectacular images and brotherhoods, the most famous one is Seville´s one
and even one of our musical compositions, the famous "Pasión de Linares," has reached it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To continue with, I´m going to talk about andalusian typical food.

To start with, I would like to mention a very typical dish from Andalusian coast, which is
pescaito frito; it consists in using small fishes without fishbone, such as anchovies or dogfish.
These fishes have to be coated with flour, and after frying them, it´s usually seasoned with
lemon.

Secondly, the "flamenquín" is one of the most typical dishes, especially in Cordoba. It consists
of a rolled breaded preparation where meat is wrapped with ham and peppers, then coated
with flour and egg, and finally fried in plenty of oil.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now we are going to shift our focus to the most emblematic landscapes in Andalusia; and for
this, we´re going to talk about the Tabernas Desert and The Alhambra.

The tabernas desert, located in Almería is the only desert in Europe. Even though is a desert, it
has a great variety of fauna and flora.

The Alhambra of Granada is a large fortress and also a palace complex built in 1238. This is so
important because its Islamic architecture and its historic relevance.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lastly we are going to talk about two Andalusian celebrities, and one of them is very well
known in our city.

The first icon is a bullfighter who was born in Cádiz, and is called Francisco López Navarro, but
everyone knows him as Paquirri.

The second one, is a worldwide star, and he was born in linares. He is called Rafael Martos
Sánchez, but we just call him by his name. He is a very important singer, but his peak of fame
was around fifty or sixty years ago.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In conclusion, Andalusia is a region rich in customs, gastronomy, emblematic landscapes and

notable figures. Its cultural diversity and historical legacy make it a unique destination that
attracts visitors from all over the world.
