CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

I. Background of the study

Managing waste effectively is crucial for maintaining a healthy and conducive

learning environment, particularly within educational institutions like Sibuco National

High School. As students, teachers, and staff go about their daily activities, waste

inevitably accumulates, presenting challenges related to cleanliness, hygiene, and

environmental sustainability. Despite the importance of waste management, there exists a

lack of detailed information regarding the specific contribution of each classroom to the

overall waste generation within the school.

This research try to address this gap by undertaking a comprehensive

examination of the quantity of waste produced by individual classrooms at Sibuco

National High School. By focusing on the micro-level dynamics of waste generation

within the school setting, the study aims to provide valuable insights that can inform

targeted waste management strategies and contribute to the overall improvement of

school management practices, at present, there is limited empirical data available

regarding the amount of waste generated by each classroom. This lack of information

poses challenges for developing effective waste reduction and management plans tailored

to the unique characteristics of Sibuco National High School. By conducting a thorough

analysis of waste generation patterns at the classroom level, this study aims to fill this

knowledge gap and provide evidence-based recommendations for optimizing waste

management efforts.
Furthermore, this research aligns with the objectives of the School Management Program,

which prioritizes the promotion of a clean, safe, and sustainable learning environment.

By

generating empirical data on classroom-level waste production, the study aims to support

the School Management Program's goal of implementing evidence-based strategies to

enhance school cleanliness and environmental stewardship.

Through collaboration with school administrators, teachers, and students, this

research endeavor seeks to collect comprehensive data on waste generation, including the

types of waste produced, frequency of disposal, and contributing factors. By analyzing

this data, the study aims to identify patterns and trends in waste generation among

different classrooms, thereby enabling the development of targeted interventions to

reduce waste and promote sustainable practices.

Il. Statement of The Problem

This Study Aims to Determine the Waste Management in Sibuco National High

School on the Amount of Trashes Produced By Every Classroom As Basis for School

Management Program:

1. How much trash is produced by each classroom in Sibuco National

High School?

2. What factors influence variations in waste generation among different

classrooms?

3. How can the data on classroom-specific waste production inform the

development of

effective waste management strategies within the School Management Program Q

Ill. Objective of the Study

This study focuses specifically on assessing the amount of waste generated by

classrooms within Sibuco National High School, It aims to comprehensively evaluate
