Requirements
DEPARTMENT
Recreation and Parks - A grade 12 or equivalent qualification
- A minimum of 2 years professional Surf Lifeguard experience
- A valid Advanced First Aid Certificate or equivalent
- A valid Surf Lifeguard Award or equivalent with current
annual retest.
SALARY - A willingness to attend OHSACT Training
- Valid appropriate law enforcement Qualification (Peace Officer)
Basic Salary R 329 914 p.a. or willingness to attend relevant training
- May not have a criminal record or a pending record I
- Drug Free - NOTE: All shortlisted applicants will be required to
REFERENCE NUMBER undergo compulsory drug testing
- Supervisory Skills Training Course Certificate or equivalent
RP 06/24 External - Surf Lifeguard Instructor’s Award, Instructors Certificate
- Valid Code EB vehicle driver’s licence
- Valid Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) driver’s certificate
CLOSING DATE - Valid Skipper’s Licence
- PRDP would be advantageous

- Supervising and controlling the Lifeguard service where

recreational environment for all users
- Performing administrative functions
- Supervising, motivating and providing development for staff
- Upholding the professional image of the Department and
City of Cape Town
- Complying with the required standards of fitness and skills
at all times
- Operating, maintaining and performing the required
administrative duties relating to the use of Power Crafts
- Assisting in the promotion of Water Safety Awareness
- Inspecting Surf Lifesaving Clubs
- Accepting overall responsibility for the beach, staff and
resources
- Ensuring the promotion and development of Learn to Swim
and general lifesaving programmes and initiatives
- Develop and implement water safety/ Drowning Prevention
awareness programmes within local communities
