“A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING ITS FULL SUPPORT FOR THE MINISTRY OF
AGRICULTURE, FISHERIES AND AGRARIAN REFORM (MAFAR) AND THE
MUNICIPALITY OF SULTAN DUMALONDONG INIATIVES ON FOOD SECURITY”

WHEREAS, pursuant to Republic Act No. 7160, otherwise known as the Local
Government Code of 1991, local government units are mandated to promote the
general welfare of their constituents, including ensuring food security and nutrition;

WHEREAS, the Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines, under Article

II, Section 9, declares that the State shall promote a just and dynamic social order that
will ensure the prosperity and independence of the nation and free the people from
poverty through policies that provide adequate social services, including food
security;
WHEREAS, the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform
(MAFAR), as mandated by Republic Act No. 8435 or the Agriculture and Fisheries
Modernization Act (AFMA) of 1997, has implemented various programs and

 initiatives aimed at enhancing food security and promoting sustainable agriculture in
the municipality;
WHEREAS, it is imperative for the Sangguniang Bayan of Sultan
Dumalondong to recognize and support these efforts by the MAFAR and the local
government unit (LGU) to strengthen food security in our municipality;
WHEREAS, this August Body acknowledges the importance of specific
Programs of MAFAR and LGU Initiatives on Food Security: Community-Based Food
Production Program which empowers communities to engage in local food production
through initiatives such as community gardens, backyard farming, and cooperative
agricultural projects;
WHEREAS, this Municipality is in full support of MAFAR to providing
training resources and support to enhance food self-sufficiency and improve access to
nutritious food;
WHEREAS, this Municipality recognizes the importance of Price Stabilization
and Market Support: Recognizing the need for fair market practices and stable food
prices, we endorse MAFAR and LGU mechanisms aimed at stabilizing food prices,
establishing local food markets, monitoring prices, and supporting farmers'
cooperatives to negotiate fair prices for their produce;
WHEREAS, this Municipality aims to provide Food Subsidy Programs: in
support to targeted food subsidy programs for low-income households to make
essential food items more affordable;
WHEREAS, this Municipality promotes collaboration with local businesses,
NGOs, and government agencies to identify eligible beneficiaries and distribute food
subsidies effectively;
WHEREAS, this Municipality encourages Nutrition Education and Awareness
Campaigns to educate communities about nutrition, healthy eating habits, and the
importance of diverse diets;
WHEREAS, this August Body endorses partnerships with schools, health
centers, and community organizations to promote nutrition workshops, cooking
demonstrations, and awareness programs on locally sourced and nutritious foods;

 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE
SANGGUNIANG BAYAN OF SULTAN DUMALONDONG, LANAO DEL SUR, BY THE
VIRTUE OF POWERS VESTED IN IT BY LAW, IN SESSION ASSEMBLED TO A
EXPRESS ITS FULL SUPPORT FOR THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE, FISHERIES
AND AGRARIAN REFORM (MAFAR) AND THE MUNICIPALITY OF SULTAN
DUMALONDONG INIATIVES ON FOOD SECURITY.
RESOLVED, on motion of Hon. JALILAH M. ABDULMADID and unanimously
seconded by other Sangguniang Bayan members of Sultan Dumalondong, Lanao Del
Sur, in its Inaugural Session held on March 25, 2024.
RESOLVED FINALLY, to send a copy of this resolution to the office of the Local
Chief Executive, Hon. Mayor. Jamel B. Kurangking, the Local Development Council,
Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) and other office
concerns for review and action.
