The Challenge and Change in society course have almost ended. Throughout this course,

I have learned much knowledge, which is very useful for my future studies. I want to elaborate

on the three areas where I have demonstrated the most personal growth.

In the exploring aspect, the inquiry skills are to explore topics related to the analysis of

social change and formulate questions to guide the research. I have learnt how to define social

events and changes and know what social change is. Also, I have learned how to gather

information and find valuable resources for social change. I have learnt to look at an event of

social change with multiple perspectives to evaluate research questions and topics and analyze

the social change. This skill is instrumental and essential for my further studies, as I have to learn

to have a critical mind, be aware of the social events, and express my thoughts on them.

The other skill which I have improved throughout the course is investigating. This is

about creating research plans and locating and selecting information relevant to their chosen

topics using appropriate social science research and inquiry methods. Creating research plans can

make it more effective to analyze social change, and it is imperative as I need to learn how to

choose and gather useful information which helps to analyze a social event. I have also learnt a

lot more about researching my selected topics, both in terms of using keywords and exploring the

sources that could be useful. The information often gives me much inspiration for my research

topic; therefore, I think I have improved my investigating skill.

Lastly, from the technological change aspect, it is to demonstrate an understanding of

patterns and effects of technological change from a social science perspective. In many

assignments, I have investigated and analyzed much technology used in some social events and

researched its change. For example, I have understood that technology brought considerable

changes to the sports and fashion industries, greatly benefiting society. I have learned how to

analyze technological changes from a social science perspective and determine how the changes

affect the community.

Throughout the challenge and change in the society course, I have learnt about many

social science theories and have used them to analyze social changes, investigate social trends,

and explore global social challenges. It has significantly broadened my horizons, and I have

enjoyed learning these valuable skills.
