Choral Speaking Script

Line 1: Who

Line 2: Are

Line 3: We?

We are the choral speakers from Sri Aman Girl School and we are standing
here today with excitement to present to you a story. Without further ado, the
story will start now.

War is the degradation of the human spirit.

Many reasons can cause it,

All the reasons,

Have gone insane,

It’s the biggest crime,

Yet has the least action taken.

When we go home and our parents nag,

Solo: Have you finished your homework?

Solo: Are your chores done?

Solo: You need to study more!

And we wish we didn’t have them to nag at us,

But the kids in Gaza have none to go home to,

Nor a home to go back to.

Our country is rich,

With land that has oil,

People that suffer from no turmoil,

Their country is in ruins.

With the evil-doers doings,

That led the children astray,

And bullets that ricochet,

More times than the number of survivors.

Now I have a question for you,

Can you imagine it?

Ever watched a war video,

That filled your hearts with anger,

And made you cry tears,

That drowned you in your fears?

We remember a time like that.

Solo: *Rants heatedly* How can they do that? Monsters! They’re just children,
we have to kill them and torture them for what they have done!

Solo (from the back): ‘Amira’, calm down! We don’t wish to represent the
anger that resides in the hearts of the enemies. We wish to do the opposite.

A: And what exactly is the opposite?

The two most common morals learnt that are also so commonly overlooked;
peace and harmony.

We complain about our school,

About the shoddy bathrooms,

And the darkness that looms,

In the corners of the room,

When we go home late from practice,

And complain about how dinner isn’t ready,

Or about how boring a class can be,

When we are told to keep quiet

But kids over there stay silent

And don’t complain when the teacher comes in

Because what is there to groan about

When the teacher is absent.

Not because she is sick,

But because she is absent from life,

Now I have a question for you,

Can you hear them?

Newly wed couples say 'Till death do us part' in their vows,

Solo: I love you!

Solo: I love you too!

Line 3: Oh stop it, you’re still in high school!

Couples there say 'Until death do we meet again'.

People here sing: 'Oh my gosh, look at that boy.'

People there sing: 'Oh my gosh, look at that-'

BOMB!

We see beggars in the night market begging for money,

They over there are all beggars begging for freedom.

Now I have a question for you,

Can you understand a little bit more now?

Solo: I remember what my cousin once said to a soldier’s face

Line 1: Who gives you the power to take my rights away?

Line 2: What makes you superior to me?

Line 3: Is it the six bullets in your gun’s chamber that give you confidence?

Does every gunshot give you another gold star on your chest?

Solo: Why are you all so serious? Enjoy the life we have! Have fun not stress
yourself out.

Everyone: We never said that we couldn't have fun. We just need to realize
that we are the only ones who can help people like this.

We shoot fireworks into the sky but they shoot missiles

We complain about the sky when it rains but they have no sky

Line 1: We see humans but no humanity

Line 2: We see land but no people

Line 3: We see people but no life

Victory or martyrdom, we'll have to see when the sun tomorrow rises

If we are there to even see it.

We need to learn the truth behind the magician’s trick called genocide.

Helping people should not be forced but voluntarily done.

Let us make 2015 a global revolution against cruelty.

Now I have one question for you,

Can you believe it?

Line 3: * back row cues a bomb falling*

Line 2: Wait, no!

Line 1: Help Us!
