QUESTIONS

1. In the mixed prokaryote and eukaryote slide, which cells are cheek cells and which cells are bacteria? What is
the morphology and arrangement of the bacteria in this slide?

2. Are yeast cells prokaryotes or eukaryotes?

3. Based on the Gram reaction you observed for Yogurt bacteria, describe the cell wall of these cells.

4. What staining procedure was likely used to make the slide of Klebsiella? Why was this stain used?

QUESTIONS:

1. Compare the cell wall and membrane structures of B. subtilis and E. coli.

2. Complete the table by naming the step, the reagent used and drawing in a simple diagram of Gm+ and Gm-
cells showing their cell wall/membrane structure and the appearance of the dyes at each step.
