Dear parents/caregivers,
Thank you for returning your child’s permission form for them to attend this year's Gisborne Exchange, which is
being held in Gisborne.
Below is all of the general relevant information regarding the competition. Please note that the teacher in
charge of your child's team may issue more specific information regarding the event they are taking.
Cost: $50. It would be appreciated if the fee was paid by Wednesday the 19th of June. You can pay this to the
school office or via online.
Transportation: All students will travel to/from Gisborne in a bus. If you wish to transport your own child, can you
please inform the teacher in charge of your child’s team as soon as possible.
Timetable
● 6.50am - Children meet in our school ● 8.00am - Children arrive back at Gisborne
auditorium Intermediate
● 7.15am - Team leaves for Gisborne ● 9.00am - Day 2 competitions begin
● 11.30am - Team arrives at Gisborne ● 10.00am - Competitions finish
Intermediate ● 12.00pm - Team leaves for Whakatāne
● 12.00pm/2.00pm - Competitions (TBC) ● 3.30pm - Team arrives back in Whakatāne
● 2.30pm - Children are placed with their billets (approx)
● 3.00pm - Children leave with their billets
Gear
Children will need to wear the following gear to school on Wednesday the 26th of June:
● School tracksuit
● Competition uniform (under their tracksuit)
● Mufti shoes

Children will have our deputy principal’s phone number which they can contact while they are with their billet.
In the event that you would like to get in touch with your child, please don’t hesitate to contact Haruru.
Competition Overview: Children will participate in various sports and academic competitions against Gisborne
Intermediate. The points we gather over the events will go towards our overall school score. The school with the
most points on the last day wins our exchange trophy.
Below is the current timetable, however, please note that it may change closer to the competition.
Thursday the 27th of June 8.40am Students report to their classes, then head immediately to
coaches for their allocated events. Whakatane students meet
and take bags to hall (Except Hockey - Delivered directly to turf)
