Review the names of the plants children have learned in the previous lesson.
Ask them to put the plants into 2 groups: plants with no flowers and plants
with flowers.
Put the word cards at the top of the column.

Exploration
Explain to children what ‘similar’ and ‘different’ mean.
Let’s explore more about flowering plants.
Look at these two plants.
Can you tell me some of the ways they are similar?
Can you tell me some of the ways they are different?
They have similar colors/shapes/sizes/textures.
They have different colors/shapes/sizes/textures.

Write down the words color, shape, size, and texture.

Consolidation + communication
Go outside to look for flowers with similar and different characteristics to add
into the book.
Follow-up Make as many comparisons as children can
