INTRODUCTION

Generally speaking, Cartography is the making and study of maps in all their aspects
with the advent of digital technology and GIS, the scope of cartography includes
production, usage of maps, organization, management, analysis, and exploitation of
cartographic digital files. In summary what we can say about Cartography is an efficient
way of manipulating, analyzing, and expressing ideas, forms, and relationships that occur
in two-dimensional spaces.
Maps were designed for specific purposes and specific information. There are three
types of maps that is topographic maps, thematic maps, and charts. The concept of map-
making is the process of communicating concepts, facts and ideas to be transmitted
through the map to the audience using a defined media.

OBJECTIVE

These are the objectives of our task

 To develop skill in map design, reading, analysis and interpretation.

 To produce the topographic map and digitizing of map.
 To promote the principles of cartographic ethics.
 To introduce students to the process of maps communication and way the
cartography can assist the map user.
 To learn how to make map projection.
 To understand more details about digitizing and mapping.
 To learn the types of symbol that always have on maps.
 To encourage student familiar using the QGIS Software.

METHODOLOGY

SOFTWARE USED

QGIS is a free and open-source cross-platform desktop geographic information system

(GIS) application that supports viewing, editing, printing and analysis of geospatial data.
QGIS function as geographic information system (GIS) software, allowing users to
analyze and edit spatial information, in addition to composing and exporting graphical
maps. It’s support raster, vector and mesh layers.
Gary Sherman began development of Quantum GIS in early 2002, and it become an
incubator project of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation in 2007.

CONCLUSION

From this task, concept of digitizing clearly understood which invlove from beginning
such as figure out how to make a map on right way. QGIS is an software that helps us
make map and plans by digitizing.

COMMENT

 I had work with two types of geographic data ( vector and raster) in a desktop
environment.
 I can know the ways on how to make maps using common geographic data
 And what element should be included on all assignment
 I can figure out the function of each tool in QGIS software
