the good of humanity. We are constantly growing and expanding into areas new and old. We are
currently looking to fill the following position for our office in Kaimana;

KAIMANA SUSTAINABLE FISHERIES COORDINATOR


(KM SF-C)
Kaimana is a one of the regencies of West Papua Province where the International Climate Initiative
– IKI, Peat and Mangrove Ecosystem (PME) project will be implemented and focus on fisheries and
aquaculture program. In the IKI-PME proposal point 4.3.1 about Co-Benefits and safeguards have
two main target such as (1) the improved food security through mangrove related fisheries, (2)
increased production and income through silvo-fisheries that support output no-4. Therefore, based
on the geographic area and specific location for peat and mangrove ecosystems related to fisheries
and Mari culture seaweed program, we will focus in the Triton Bay.

The Sustainable Fisheries Coordinator will play a dynamic and important role in securing the
sustainable fisheries management in Kaimana - Triton Bay sub-MPAs. This will involve coordination
with several CI projects in Kaimana, working with communities, private sector fishing industries and
government (village and regency). One such project this position will be responsible for developing
and improving a sustainable mangrove fishery, ideally in collaboration with women’s groups in the
area. Through continuous community engagement, he/she will be responsible to securing adat
fishing rights and promoting sustainable fishing policies throughout Kaimana - Triton Bay sub-MPAs.
This position will report to the Kaimana Program Manager with regular communication to IKI
Program Manager West Papua

a) Coordinate mangrove fisheries program is fully operational:


▪ Work with communities, including women’s groups, village and religious leaders in Kaimana
- Triton Bay to understand current fishing practices and promote sustainable fishing
practices
▪ Work with community groups and the regency government to develop a sustainable
mangrove fishery
▪ Serve as the point person on all fisheries related work in Kaimana - Triton Bay
▪ Provide education to increase awareness among fisheries, leaders, community, private
sector and government on sustainable fishing practices
▪ Participate and coordinate fisheries-related research in Kaimana – Triton Bay
▪ Support entire Kaimana program team to achieve project deliverables
▪ Support training and capacity building assist the development training design for related
stakeholders

b) Coordinate the sustainable fisheries work in Kaimana


• Support MPA-Fisheries Kaimana program supervise by Kaimana Program Manager
• Provide regular progress updates to Kaimana Program Manager, and Fisheries Senior
Coordinator with regular communications to IKI Program Manager for West Papua
• Assist to ensure that all programmatic activities relating to Administrative works adhere to
CI’s policies and procedures.
• Maintain close communication with all Kaimana field team and IKI-PME team
Skills and Requirement;
(critical to successful job performance. Applicants not meeting required skills may not be hired)
• Strong interest and dedication to conservation especially on peat and mangrove ecosystem
• Undergraduate degree in conservation, biology, fisheries, policy, or another related field
• Strong computer skills, including literacy in Microsoft office suite
• At least 4 years-experience in NGOs, conservation or fisheries management
• Strong written and spoken Bahasa Indonesia
• Strong communication skills with other cultures as well as Indonesian government officials,
communities and private sector partners
• Creative, takes initiative and able to work effectively in stressful situations to meet deadlines
• Comfortable managing multiple duties and adapting to changing priorities
• Able to travel extensively to remote or challenging locations, especially with short notice
• Conversational English language skills
• Master’s degree in conservation, fisheries management, policy or another related field
• Experience working in West Papua and respect for other cultures
• The successful candidate will be outgoing, a self-starter and have a high cultural sensitivity.

Working conditions;
• Willing to travel extensively to field offices and remote areas
• Willing to spend extended periods in remote areas and rough conditions
