HISTORICAL TILES
• Bangladesh got independence in 1971 and India played a significance role
in their struggle for independence
• Historical and cultural ties forms the foundation of relationship between both
nation
BILATERAL TRADE AND
ECONOMIC OPERATION
• India is one of the largest trading partner of Bangladesh and the bilateral
trade steadly growing between these two nations in the field like textile
pharmaceuticals machinery and equipment agriculture products and
chemical
• Both countries have implemented various initiative to enhance their
economic operation such as
• SAFTA – SOUTH ASIAN FREE TRADE AREA
• India line of credit to Bangladesh which helps to promote exports of Indian
goods and services at 75% of the value of the contract must be source from
India
BORDER MANAGEMENT
• Indian Bangladesh share a very long and porus border of 4096 kilometre
approx
• They have taken some efforts to resolve their border disputes in which they
had created effective border management mechanism like joint boundary
working group (JBWG)
• Indian Bangladesh have signed land border agreement in 2014 to ensure
proper connectivity in region LBA lays for the exchange of 162 enclave
under the control of either country as per 1974 pact.
SECURITY COOPERATION
• Indian Bangladesh corporate closely invite related to security and take
efforts to counter the terrorism and share their intelligence
• They conduct joint exercises and training programs to emhancr their security
co-operation .
• The latest joint exercise was SAMPRITI 11th edition in UMROI Meghalaya on
3rd October 2023
IMMIGRATION AND REFUGEE
• As we know that both country shares a long border which leads to
substantial migration and refugee challenges to India by Bangladesh
because of economic unstability, political arrest, natural disaster, terrorism in
Bangladesh this is very contentious topic
CONCLUSION
• India and Bangladesh continue to work together on various front which
strengthen their bilateral relationship thus they holds the great potential for
future.
