Respected Sir,
I am writing you on behalf of the Association of Mechanical Engineering Students (AMES), of
Kathmandu University to request your sponsorship for the upcoming AMES Cup event. AMES
is a student wing of Mechanical Engineering students that provides a platform to delve into the
practical side of contextual matters and involves the students in various co-curricular and
extracurricular activities through various programs. The club is moderated by the department
and conducts different programs as per the academic calendar in response to the department.

The AMES Cup is an annual sports event of Mechanical Engineering that brings together
students, faculty, and staff members from various academic levels and specializations to
showcase their athletic abilities and sportsmanship. The AMES Cup 2024 is scheduled from 13
May 2024 till 24 May 2024, and will feature a range of indoor and outdoor games, including
football, cricket, basketball, volleyball, tug of war, relay race, 100m race, table tennis,
badminton, and chess. We are anticipating more than 300 participants from our community to
join this exciting event, with an estimated audience of 3000+ from Dhulikhel and Kathmandu
University Central Campus across the tournament schedule.

We believe that our partnership would be mutually beneficial. We are confident that your
institution will receive significant exposure to our community through our promotional activities.
Your sponsorship will allow us to provide quality equipment, and necessary resources for our
event. In regards to the sponsorship, the company will be promoted through various channels,
including social media, flyers, and banners. We will also recognize your contribution during the
event itself and in any media coverage that we receive.

INTRODUCTION

Kathmandu University

Kathmandu University is an autonomous, not-for-profit, non - government institution dedicated to


maintaining high standards of academic excellence. It is committed to developing leaders in
professional areas through quality education. It is located in a mountainous landscape in
Dhulikhel Municipality about 30 kilometers east of Kathmandu having a round-the-year pleasant
climate and panoramic Himalayan Views. With a vision of becoming an excellent university
devoted to bringing knowledge and technology to the service of humanity, the university has been
dedicated to the field of education for the past 26 years. At present, the university offers various
undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate programs in science, engineering, medicine,
management, education, arts, environment, law, and information technology through the School
of Science, School of Engineering, School of Management, School of Medical Sciences, School
of Law and School of Arts. In addition to more than 4000 students studying in its constituent
campuses, 7500 students are in its affiliated colleges. The University focuses on the all-around
development of the students rather than just academic courses with other extra-curricular and co-
curriculum activities.

Department of Mechanical Engineering

Department of Mechanical Engineering, located in Kathmandu University Central Campus in


Dhulikhel, Kavre was established in 1994 A.D. Kathmandu University offers undergraduate,
postgraduate, and doctorate programs in the field of mechanical engineering. Excellently
equipped with the required infrastructure demanded by the subject, the department has been
providing an exquisite platform for the students in theoretical as well as practical aspects. The
department handles four subdivisions: Automobile, Design and Manufacturing, Energy
Technology, and Hydropower, and intakes 30 students for undergraduate programs in each of the
subdivisions yearly. Currently, there are more than 480 students and 25 faculties in undergraduate
studies for Mechanical Engineering. Moreover, the Department of Mechanical Engineering has
a state-of-the-art facility with the Turbine Testing Lab (TTL), University Technical Training

Center (TTC), Energy Systems and Technology Research Laboratory (ESTRL), Renewable and
Sustainable Energy Lab (RSEL), Green Hydrogen Lab (GHL), Design Lab.

Association of Mechanical Engineering Students (AMES)

Established in 2002 A.D., AMES is a student wing of Mechanical Engineering students that
provides a platform to delve into the practical side of contextual matters and involves the students
in various co-curricular and extracurricular activities through various programs. The club is

response to the department. AMES conducts various activities in collaboration with other clubs
within the university and engineering associations outside the university like the Nepal Society of
Mechanical Engineering Students (SOMES). AMES also collaborates with different governmental
and non-governmental agencies to organize awareness and advocacy programs. AMES is a
prestigious organization that is widely recognized for its exceptional track record of organizing
international events, including Aviyantaa and the University Scholar Conference. The AMES Cup
is another notable event organized by our organization, and it is equally significant in scale and
participation as our other major events. In addition to the AMES Cup, we regularly host various
other events such as Workshops/Seminars, Talk Shows, Podcasts, Alumni Meet, Community
programs, and more, aimed at promoting and nurturing the academic and professional growth of
our students.

AMES Cup

The AMES Cup is one of the most eagerly awaited events in the academic calendar of the
Department of Mechanical Engineering, organized annually by the Association of Mechanical
Engineering Students (AMES). This recreational activity provides a platform for students and
faculty members to come together and showcase their athletic abilities, with a range of indoor and
outdoor games on offer. The event draws participation from more than 300 students and faculty
members, making it one of the largest and most popular events in the department.
The AMES Cup is more than just a sporting event, as it serves as a platform for students to
develop their leadership, organizational, and teamwork skills. The event is organized entirely by
the students, providing them with valuable experience in planning and executing large-scale

events. From conceptualizing the event theme, and designing the logo and promotional material,
to managing the logistics, budgeting, and marketing, the students are involved in every aspect of
the event planning and execution.
The AMES Cup is a testament to the department's commitment to nurturing the holistic
development of its students. Through participation in the event, students develop a sense of
camaraderie, team spirit, and sportsmanship. The event encourages students to engage in healthy
competition and also provides a platform for students to interact with faculty members outside of
the classroom, promoting a sense of community within the department.
Overall, the AMES Cup is a highly anticipated and well-attended event that brings together the
entire Department of Mechanical Engineering for a day of fun, friendly competition, and
community building. It provides an excellent opportunity for corporate sponsors to showcase their
