 I dedicate this real-life project report to my instructors Mr ONZIMA JOHN and
Mrs NALUBEGA HARRIET, All Staff and BC students and general students
of Kiryandongo Technical Institute who have been with me in this project for the
great work done by guiding me on various activities, working tireless, effort and
support they rendered to me during the time of this real-life project
 I also dedicate this report to my parents who have sacrificed their money, effort
and support to pay my tuition and other school requirements needed.

CHAPTER ONE

 1.0 Introduction
Kiryandongo Technical Institute is located in Kiryandongo Town Council,
Kiryandongo District along Kampala-Gulu highway.
 1.1 Location of the Real-life project
This project was located within Kiryandongo Technical Institute near Odiya
Boy’s dormitory.
 1.2 Tittle of the project
Construction of boys’ improved pit latrine near Odiya Boys Dormitory by
building construction students in academic year 2024-2025.
 1.3 Background
The Boys’ improved pit latrine near Odiya Boys’ dormitory in Kiryandongo
Technical Institute which is aided by the ministry of Education and Sports this is
due to the distance covered by the boys’ latrine.
 1.4 Objectives of the project
To reduce on the long distance travelled by boys of Odiya dormitory and general
students at large
To transfer the theoretical knowledge into practical skills

3.0 Sequence of work

 Week one
During this first week I carried out the following activities.
 Site investigation
 Clearing and Cleaning the site area identified
Week two
In this second week I carried out the preparation of the personal tools, setting the
wall and bringing of materials used at the site
 Week three
During this week I started raising the wall right from foundation to over beam
I also completed the work within this week

3.1 PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT


 To create linkage for future jobs experience and placement of students’ industry

 To expose the students to the environment in the world of work
 Reduce on the long distance covered by not only by Odiya dormitory students but
also the students’ body at large
3.2 CHALLENGES
 Accidents during the challenges.
 Poor time managements.
 Weather changes.
 Late supply of materials
3.3 SOLUTIONS
 Use of personal protective equipment.
 Proper supervision by the academic supervisor.
 Allocation of person in charge of the site i.e. Site foreman
3.4 BENEFITS
In summary, I gain a lot of knowledge and skills during the project and these
include;
 How setting of a building is done
 How to raise the wall
 Proper plumbing of corners using plumbing bob
 Proper bonding of bricks
3.5 RECOMMENDATIONS
 The real-life project is important and it should be encouraged among studies in
institution of learning since it provides job opportunities, gaining of more
practical skills and experience of work.
3.6 CONCLUSION
 The real life project was successful done since I and my students were involved
in the practical activities and encouraged team work amongst ourselves
