This specification outlines the revision and addenda to SES E21-G01.

The term SABIC or SES shall mean the project Owner (United) or UES or their authorized representative.

In Section 2 - References

Add the following New references:

United Engineering Standards (UES)

00-E-0001 Criteria for Electrical System Design

00-E-0038 Underground Excavation and Installation of Conduits, Manholes and Cables –
Addendum to SES E26-C01)
00-E-0039 Engineering Standard for Underground Duct Bank, Conduit, Manhole and Cable
Installations (Addendum to SES E26-E01)

In Section 7.7 – Cable Tray

Delete Article 7.7.3 in its entirety.

In Section 8.1 – Metal-Clad Cables

Modify Article 8.1.2 .k to read:

In wet locations when any of the following conditions are met:

(i) The metallic covering is impervious to moisture
(ii) A lead sheath or moisture impervious jacket is provided under the metal covering
(iii) The insulated conductors under the metallic covering is approved for use in wet locations

Add Article 8.1.3:

All direct buried cable shall have an overall lead sheath, an overall covering of galvanized steel wire armor
over the lead sheath, and an overall outer polyvinyl chloride (PVC) jacket.

In Section 10.6 – Class I, Division 2, Hazardous Locations

Delete Article 10.6.a (v) in its entirety.

Modify Article 10.6.a (vi) to read:

Flexible cord requirements are the same as those for flexible cords in Class I, Div 1, hazardous locations.

Modify Article 10.6.a.(viii) to read:

Underground wiring shall be installed in rigid metal conduit, or direct buried, or in nonmetallic conduit if
enclosed in reinforced concrete or in rigid metal conduit if enclosed in non-reinforced concrete.
Underground installations shall be in accordance with UES 00-E-0038 and –0039.

Modify Article 10.6.a (ix) to read:

Armored cable may be direct buried in areas not subject to vehicular traffic. Underground installations
shall be in accordance with UES 00-E-0038 and –0039.

Replace Type E with “Class I, Div.1, hazardous locations”

In Section 10.7 – Class II, Division 1, and Class III, Division 1 Hazardous Locations

Modify Article 10.7.a (ii):

Replace Type E with “Class I, Div. 1, hazardous locations”

In Section 10.8 – Class II, Division 2, Hazardous Locations

Modify Articles 10.8.a (iv) and (v) and 10.8.c:

Replace all Type G with “Class II, Div. 1 and Class III, Div. 1, hazardous locations”.

In Table I – Wiring Systems Applicable to Various Locations

Modify the Area Services and Controls – Substation building:

All the wiring methods indicated are the permitted wiring systems.

Modify the Area Buildings – Administration & Other buildings & offices:

Add RGS and PVC coated conduits

Modify the Area Laboratories – Office Areas and Stock rooms:

Add RGS and PVC coated conduits

Modify the Area Warehouses and Stock Rooms – Indoor and Outdoor:

Add RGS and PVC coated conduits

Modify the Area Shops in all areas:

Add RGS conduits

All other requirements remains the same and applicable to JUPC (United) project.
