My Interview- Jonathan Palma

Summary:
Oscar has been working on automotive vehicles for a long time, (around 16-17 years.) He
was able to teach me some techniques and skills regarding being a mechanic. Some things he
taught me were; traits needed to be a mechanic, organization skills, and some tips and tricks
within the automotive industry. Overall, Oscar is very skilled within the automotive industry as
he has many years of experience and was able to successfully teach me about cars and how to
repair them.

(Jonathan) J:Yeah, yeah, is it working? Yeah. There you go. All right, well, we're in. All right.
Thank you, Oscar, for agreeing to be interviewed. The purpose of this interview is for me to
better get to know you and your career path in becoming a mechanic. Is it OK that I record this
conversation for the purpose of transcribing our conversation at a later date?

(Oscar) O:Yes, no problem, Johnny.

J:All right, great. So my first question is, what's the best part about the job?

O:Well, there's a lot of good things about this job. I think the one that I like the most is that I get
to work in different cars, different problems, different areas every day. So I think that's what I
like.

J:Thank you. All right, the second question. What is one word of advice you would give to
someone trying to be a mechanic?

O: You have to. Be really, I would say, patient. Listen to whoever is teaching you. Try to get
every detail, like in your mind, your head. Try to remember everything. And then also ask
questions about whatever job you're doing. So if you don't know or you are unsure, you wanna
make sure you understand everything.

J:Thank you. And then question number three, what traits are important when working?

O; Um, you got to be responsible, professional. And I think those are the biggest ones because,
uh, that way you only do it one time and you do it right.

J:All right. So question number four, what is your favorite car brand and why?

O: Work wise, I will say Honda. Because it's pretty straightforward. It's not really hard to work
on having a lot of access So I will say that but personally I like Chevy's The work is Honda for
sure.
J:And then number five, what is your favorite tool Brand and Why?

O: That will be a Snap-on for sure. They have the highest quality tools Available for mechanics
and they also have a great warranty on them. So you get top of the line. I mean, it's pricey but it's
worth it.

J: Those are all my questions for the interview, thank you. Thank you Oscar. Thank you
