TITLE: Maintenance of Cloth Bellows

1.0 PURPOSE:

1.1 To ensure the optimal performance and longevity of cloth bellows through
regular maintenance activities.

2.0 SCOPE:

2.1 This Work Instruction covers the guidelines for the maintenance of cloth bellows
used in Fatimafert Limited to ensure optimal performance and durability of cloth
bellows.

3.0 CHEMICALS INVOLVED:

Nill.

4.0 Responsibilities:
4.1 Equipment line management has the responsibility to implement this procedure.

5.0 HAZARDS AND RISKS INVOLVED:


5.1 Wet surfaces can increase the risk of slips, trips and falls.
5.2 While accessing bellows located at elevated positions may pose a falling hazard if
proper safety precautions are not taken.

6.0 PPE’s REQUIRED:

6.1 Safety helmets, safety shoes, safety goggles, earplugs, gas mask, gloves.

7.0 SAFETY PRE-REQUISITES:

7.1 Provide and ensure the use of appropriate personal protective equipment
(PPE’s).
7.2 Ensure that no work is started in area without valid PTW.
7.3 Ensure maintenance personnel receive proper training for clothe bellows
maintenance work instruction.
7.4 Conduct TBT before starting maintenance tasks.
7.5 Ensure that all tools and equipment used for maintenance tasks are in good
working condition, and properly maintained.
7.6 Ensure proper tool usage and adherence to safe work practices.
7.7 Provide supervision and monitoring to ensure safety procedures are followed.
7.8 Barricade the area before starting work.

8.0 EXECUTION/OPERATING STEPS/GUIDELINES:

8.1 Ensure the machinery is turned off and has cooled down before starting the
work.
8.2 Carry out visual inspection including checks for any tears, holes, or signs of
wear and tear. ------------
8.3 Ensure there are no obstructions or debris inside the bellows.
8.4 Inspect upstream and downstream bellow flanges for any sign of damage,
corrosion, or misalignment.
8.5 Check for leaks or gaps between the bellows and flanges.
8.6 Check the bolts securing the flanges on both ends for tightness and signs of
wear.
8.7 Verify that bolts are not stripped or corroded.
8.8 Ensure there is no short bolting/missing bolts on both flanges.
8.9 Using the appropriate bolt tightening tool, tighten any loose bolts securing
the flanges.
8.10 If bolts are damaged, stripped, or corroded, replace them with new ones
of the same size and grade.
8.11 If the cloth bellows are damaged beyond repair or have reached the end
of their lifespan, replace them with new ones.
