LEARNING OBJECTIVES

• At the end of the session, students will would be able:


❑To examine their own roles in a team
❑To contribute to team building for enterprising activities
TEAM ROLES

• Each team should consist of different team roles, depending on the specific
goals the team wants to achieve
❑Functional
❑Organizational
❑Personal
❑Skillful
• A team that does not have the ideal composition may run into problems
• E.g. a team consisting of only creative individuals will generate many ideas, but
none of them will be implemented
TEAM ROLES (CONT.)

• Nine Team Roles


❑Executive: (organizer) generally disciplined and eager to get the job done
❑Explorer: generally an extrovert by nature, cheerful, sociable to communicate with
others
❑Innovator: creative generator, prefers to be independent and tends to approach
tasks in a scientific way
❑Analyst: has a tendency to be reserved and critical, reacting to plans and ideas in a
rational and sensible way
❑Driver: generally very ambitious and energetic to get jobs done

• Nine Team Roles

❑Chairman: strong coordinating role, emphasising on procedures, and


try to bring and keep the team together
❑Completer: feels responsible for the team's achievements, polish and
scrutinize the work for errors for good finishing
❑Team player: caring, avoids conflicts, and fosters harmony
❑Expert: has the skills and expertise required for the specific task at
hand
