The History

Christopher Columbus
Christopher Columbus was an Italian navigator and
explorer born in Genoa in 1451. He is recognized for
his fundamental role in the discovery of America in
1492,
Columbus embarked on his famous voyage in search
of a sea route to Asia, but instead reached the
shores of the American continent. This event
marked the beginning of the era of discoveries and
the meeting between Europe and America.
Throughout his life, Columbus made several
voyages to the New World, exploring different
islands in the Caribbean and the coast of Central
and South America. His legacy includes the
establishment of colonies and cultural exchange
between Europe and America.
However, his figure has also been the subject of
controversy due to the negative impacts that the
encounter between European and American
cultures had, such as colonization and exploitation
of indigenous peoples.
