NARRATIVE REPORT
The upcoming school year will witness the launch of a dedicated Reading Program, specifically
tailored for Grade 11 and 12 students. Scheduled to unfold during the second and third quarters of the
2023-2024 academic year, this initiative aims to address the crucial need for improved reading skills
among senior high school students. The project is a response to the results of the Initial Oral Reading
Test, which identified key areas where students struggle, particularly in reading comprehension. By
providing targeted learning opportunities, the program seeks to develop the essential literacy skills
necessary for academic success and personal growth.
The core objective of the Remedial Reading Program is to help students master the least
competencies identified through the initial assessments. The focus will be on enhancing reading
comprehension, a fundamental skill that impacts all areas of learning. To achieve this, the program will
offer a series of structured learning activities designed to engage students and address their specific needs.
These activities will be varied and interactive, ensuring that learners remain motivated and invested in
their progress.

The students participating in this program are primarily those in Grades 11 and 12, a critical
period in their educational journey as they prepare for higher education or entry into the workforce. By
targeting this group, the program aims to equip them with the reading skills that are essential for their
future success. The intervention comes at a pivotal time when these students are making significant
academic transitions and facing increasing demands on their literacy abilities.
Implementation of the Reading Program is planned for the second and third quarters of the school
year, providing ample time for students to engage with the material and see measurable improvements.
The extended duration of the program allows for consistent practice and reinforcement of skills, ensuring
that students can build their proficiency steadily. Regular assessments will be conducted to monitor
progress and adjust the program as needed to meet the evolving needs of the learners.
The anticipated outcomes of the Remedial Reading Program are promising. Participants are
expected to demonstrate significant improvements in reading fluency, comprehension, and accuracy.
Beyond these measurable gains, the program also aims to instill a greater interest and enjoyment in
reading among the students. By fostering a love for reading, the initiative hopes to encourage lifelong
reading habits that will benefit the students both academically and personally. Ultimately, the success of
this program will be reflected in the students' increased confidence and competence in their reading
abilities, paving the way for their future achievements.
