1.8 Limitations of the Study

While every effort will be made to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the study, certain
limitations may impact the findings:

I. Small Sample Size: The study was based on a relatively small sample size of 88
respondents. While this sample provides valuable insights, it may not fully represent the
diversity of the entire user population. A larger sample size would have allowed for more
robust statistical analysis and generalizability of findings.

II. Targeting Specific Locations: The survey specifically targeted students who were
studying in the library or sitting in classrooms. This targeting may introduce bias into the
results, as it excludes users who primarily use the app in other locations or settings. This
limitation could impact the generalizability of the findings to the broader user base.

III. Limited Time Frame for Survey: The survey was conducted within a relatively short
time frame of 2 days. This limitation means that students who were not present during this
period were unable to participate, potentially excluding valuable insights and responses from
a portion of the user base.

IV. Timing Influence: The survey was conducted at a time when many students were either
actively studying or in a more relaxed state within the Resonance environment. This timing
could have influenced their responses and mood during the survey.

V. Non-User Perspective: The study primarily focused on current users of the ResoSir app.
It did not explore the perspectives of individuals who chose not to use the app, missing
insights into why some potential users may opt out.

VI. External Factors: External factors like changes in internet connectivity, device
performance, or educational demands might influence user experiences with the app. These
factors were not accounted for in the survey.

7
2.1 Coaching Industry Profile
The coaching industry traces its roots back to the concept of private tutoring, which has
existed for centuries as a means to provide individualized attention to students seeking
academic assistance. However, with the advent of technology and the internet, coaching has
evolved into a dynamic and accessible industry.

The share of the education sector in India was 91.7 Billion USD in 2018, which has risen to
117 Billion USD in 2020 and continues to expand. The coaching industry alone contributes
approximately 3.5 billion USD to this, which is huge considering there are various types of
educational institutes in the country including schools, colleges etc.

Most parents understand the crucial role of coaching in their children's future. They feel that
it helps their children in solidifying their knowledge which is not possible by schools alone.
Coaching institutions also enhance the conceptual learning of the students which is very
crucial for their selection to prestigious institutes like IITs, AIIMS or IIMs. It is the trust of
parents who are willing to pay exorbitant amounts of fees for their child's education, coaching
institution as an industry is witnessing massive expansion.

If we look at the competition for the seats IIT-JEE has around 10,000 seats, yet more than
200,000 students show up for its entrance exams. More than 770,000 show up for the NEET
for an insignificant 2,140 seats. Despite the miserable proportion of the students accepted in
these engineering or medical institutes, the total number of candidates appearing for IIT -JEE
or NEET goes in lakhs, and most of the students who appear for these exams opt for coaching
in some of the well-known coaching brands like Aakash, FIITJEE, and others. These
coaching classes are seen as the stepping stone for the students for the successful preparation
of these entrance exams.

Chart 2.1 Indian Edtech Market is Growing at a CAGR of 39%

8
Lakhs of students happily struggle to cut down their living costs steeply to pay coaching
institutes' hefty fees. All of them have a common aim of getting admission to the crown
jewels like All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), Birla Institute of Technology
Sciences (BITS), Christian Medical College (CMC), National Institute of Technology (NIT),
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), and several other prominent institutes. Statistics and
trends suggest that coaching institutions in India will continue to flourish in coming times as
well.

3.1 Theoretical Background of the Study
The theoretical background of the study provides a foundation for understanding the concepts
and principles that underlie the research topic. In this case, the study aims to explore user
satisfaction with the ResoSir learning app, which is developed by Resonance Coaching, a
reputed educational institution. The theoretical background will cover several key areas
relevant to the study, including user satisfaction, e-learning, user interface design, and mobile
learning app features.

I. User Satisfaction

User satisfaction is a crucial concept in the field of user experience (UX) and human-
computer interaction (HCI). It refers to the extent to which users' needs, expectations, and
requirements are met when interacting with a product or service. In the context of learning
apps like ResoSir, user satisfaction is a significant factor in determining the app's success and
effectiveness. Satisfied users are more likely to continue using the app, engage with its
content, and recommend it to others.

II. E-Learning and Learning Apps

E-learning, or electronic learning, is the process of using digital technologies to facilitate

learning and education. Learning apps have become increasingly popular due to their
convenience, accessibility, and interactive nature. They offer a wide range of educational
content, from video lectures and quizzes to interactive exercises and progress tracking. E-
learning apps have revolutionized the education sector, making learning more personalized
and flexible for students.

III. User Interface (UI) Design

The user interface of an app plays a critical role in shaping the user experience. A well-
designed and intuitive UI enhances usability and encourages user engagement. Elements such
as layout, navigation, color scheme, and typography are vital components of a good UI. In the
context of the ResoSir app, understanding user perceptions of its UI is essential for
identifying areas of improvement and enhancing user satisfaction.

IV. Mobile Learning App Features

Mobile learning apps have distinct features that set them apart from traditional learning
methods. These features often include the ability to access content anytime, anywhere,
progress tracking and assessment tools, real-time updates, and notifications. Additionally,
mobile apps must strike a balance between offering rich content while not consuming
excessive battery power or device storage. Understanding the significance of these features
helps in assessing the app's effectiveness and user satisfaction.

V. User Experience and Customer Support

User experience (UX) encompasses the overall emotional and cognitive impression users
have when using an app. A positive user experience contributes to higher user satisfaction

19
and app adoption rates. In contrast, poor customer support can lead to frustration and
dissatisfaction among users, impacting their willingness to continue using the app.

VI. Challenges and Improvements

Understanding the common challenges and problems faced by users while using the ResoSir
app for learning purposes is vital for improving the app's usability and effectiveness.
Feedback on the app's content quality, navigation difficulties, and technical issues can guide
