"What is your interest in the Chinese New Agriculture, Culture, Tourism, and Sports "
My name is Mr. Piyangkoon Jaukwon, and I am 24 years
old. Currently, I am studying a master’s degree in Crop Science (International Program), focusing on plant breeding for disease resistance and yield improvement. I have an English proficiency score of CEFR level B1, which I achieved in 2021. During my undergraduate studies, I majored in Crop Production Technology. I am particularly interested in the Guizhou University Bridging Campus and Community Program. My purpose in applying for this program is to gain new experiences, learn about agricultural technologies, and engage in cultural exchange between Thailand and China. Participating in this program has been a dream of mine, as I have always wanted to visit China, a great country known for its advanced agricultural technologies and rich traditional culture. Throughout my studies, I have been learning in English and have participated in the Collaborative Online International Learning Program between Suranaree University and Shinshu University Institute of Agricultural Technology, SUT – Faculty of Agriculture, SU (2021). I have also made friends from various countries, such as China, Vietnam, and India, which has enhanced my English communication skills. I am excited to meet new people and participate in various activities during this program, especially those related to agriculture, as it familiar with my field of study. Additionally, I am interested in Chinese culture, tourism, and sports, as these are prominent aspects of China that I would love to learn about and experience.
In the realm of New Agriculture, my interest in Chinese
New Agriculture is rooted in its transformative potential to address global challenges such as global warming, food security, sustainability, and rural development. China’s advancements in agriculture are impressive, with practical applications not only in large-scale industries but also for local farmers. Techniques such as precision farming, biotechnology, smart agriculture tools like drones and The Internet of Things IoT sensors, and the use of smart farming technology to manage crops and increase agricultural productivity are particularly intriguing. China’s use of biotechnology and Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) for crop improvement to enhance yield and food sustainability, as well as postharvest technologies to extend the shelf life and quality of agricultural products, are areas I am keen to learn about. While smart farming is also emerging in Thailand, but it is still relatively new and not widespread. Learning these technologies will fuel my passion and knowledge, which I can then apply to help develop my country in the future. Culturally, China is a country with a long history and diverse traditions. I am interested in understanding how traditional culture is maintained while embracing technological advancements. Chinese cuisine, known for its unique and diverse flavors, such as mala, Peking duck, dim sum, and steamed stuff bun, fascinates me. Additionally, Chinese tea culture, given that China is the largest exporter of tea, offers a wide variety of flavors and aromas. The Dong culture is another area of interest, as it shares similarities with the cultures of northern Thai tribes like Akha and Lisu. Tourism in China, driven by its historical sites, natural beauty, and urban innovations, captivates me. China’s diverse and beautiful landscapes, different from those in Thailand, are particularly intriguing. The preservation of historical sites, like the Great Wall of China, which has stood since the Qin Dynasty, offers valuable insights for Thailand’s tourism development. In the case of sport, Chinese sports hold significant importance and are part of a national strategy to promote physical fitness among the population. China hosted the 2022 Olympic Games, showcasing its commitment to sports science and infrastructure. I am interested in how China promotes sports and develops world-class athletes, reflecting the country’s investment in this field.
Lastly, I am very eager and fully prepared to participate
in this program. I hope to have the opportunity to learn about New Agriculture, Culture, Tourism, and Sports, as well as to exchange knowledge and culture. I aim to build strong connections between Suranaree University of Technology and Guizhou University, along with the friends I might meet during this program.
