If you are knitting your socks with a contrasting color for the heel, cuff, and toe, cut the
yarn used to knit the toe leaving an 8”(20 cm) tail, and join your new colorway.
Heel Turn
If you are knitting your socks with a contrasting color for the heel, leave your main sock
color to the side (no need to cut it), and join your heel color.
MDS, knit 12(12)[12], place a stitch marker, knit across the remaining stitches on the
knitting needle, including the final stitch (work each double stitch together as if you
were working the 2 loops of the double stitch as a knit two together)
MDS, purl until the stitch marker, pass the stitch marker, purl 12(12)[12], place a stitch
marker, purl across the remaining stitches (work each double stitch together as if you
were working the 2 loops of the double stitch as a purl two together)
MDS, knit to the second stitch marker, remove the stitch marker, knit 1, turn work
MDS, purl to the remaining stitch marker, remove the stitch marker, purl 1, turn work
If the heel and the sock leg are the same color:
MDS, knit across the rest of the stitches, rejoin in the round, and continue to knit
across the second knitting needle.
Cuff
If you are knitting your socks with a contrasting color for the cuff, cut your sock leg color
leaving an 8” (20 cm) tail and join your cuff color.
Ribbing Round: *Knit 1, Purl 1* continue repeating between the *s across the round
Use a stretchy bind-off to cast-off all of the stitches. I recommend using the method
shown in the video: Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off.
