a) In Louisa May Alcott's story "A Special Gift," the character of Mr. Brooke 2
exemplifies the statement, “One does not have to be rich to be generous.” Mr.
Brooke, though not wealthy, demonstrates his generosity through his actions
and support for the March family. He is depicted as a kind-hearted and selfless
individual who values the well-being of others over material wealth.

b) Responsible: Meg, being the eldest, often takes on a maternal role within the
family, showing responsibility in caring for her younger sisters and managing

household duties. Gentle: Meg is characterized by her gentle demeanor. She is
kind and considerate, always striving to maintain harmony within the family.
Her gentle nature makes her a comforting presence

Selfless: Beth is the most selfless of the sisters, always putting others' needs
before her own. Her quiet acts of kindness, such as caring for the Hummel
