First Step Mandarin’s Refund and Sickness Policy Agreement

1. First Step Mandarin COVID-19 Agreement

I agree to not attend in-person classes if I have within the last 14 days displayed any COVID-19 symptoms or if I
have been in contact with anyone that has or likely has contracted COVID-19. I agree to wear a face mask that
covers my mouth and nose at all times while remaining indoors regardless of local by-laws. I also agree to try my
best to social distance during class whenever possible with people who are not in my social circle.

I acknowledge that any participation in any public setting or activity comes with the risk of contracting COVID-19.
Should I contract COVID-19 while attending one of First Step Mandarin's in-person classes, I agree to not hold
First Step Mandarin liable or responsible for any related sickness, damage or death. If I suspect that I have
contracted COVID-19, I will immediately contact First Step Mandarin.

Furthermore, I agree that First Step Mandarin, at their own discretion, has the right to decide if it becomes unsafe
to continue classes given the evolving COVID-19 pandemic. I acknowledge that should First Step Mandarin
postpone or suspend classes due to COVID-19, I will be given the following options:
1. Before the start of semester if in-person classes are cancelled because of COVID-19, then I may switch to a
similar level online group class offered by First Step Mandarin at no charge if one is available, receive a 100%
refund, or receive a 100% tuition credit to apply to a future online or in-person course.
2. Should 1 or 2 classes have been completed at the time classes are postponed or suspended, then I may switch to
a similar level online group class offered by First Step Mandarin at no charge if one is available, receive
an 80% refund or receive a 100% tuition credit to apply to a future online or in-person course. I (the student) have
the right to keep my textbook.
3. If 3 or more classes have been completed and First Step Mandarin cancels classes because of COVID-19, I will
not be eligible for a refund. I will only have the option to switch to online classes OR maintain 100% tuition credit
to apply to a future online or in-person course. No refund will be given.

2. First Step Mandarin's Refund Policy

1. 14 days before a semester is scheduled to begin, I may cancel my registration and receive 100% of my
tuition in refund or defer 100% of my tuition to a future semester.
2. Between 14 days and the first day of the beginning of a semester, I may cancel my registration and
receive 75% of my tuition in refund. I acknowledge that cancelling registrations near the beginning of a
semester may result in course cancellations and adversely affect the schedules of teachers and other
students.
3. If one or two classes have been taken and I am unable to continue taking classes, I will be entitled to an
50% tuition refund or be able to defer 70% of my tuition to a future semester.
4. If 3 or more classes have been completed, I will not be eligible for a refund. I will only be able to
transfer a 50% of my prorated remaining tuition to a future class. For example, if I have taken 4 classes
of a $300 10 lesson course, but would like to discontinue my classes. I may transfer $90 to a future
course ($300*50%* 60% of course remaining; $300*0.5*0.6=$90).
5. At any time, I may move to a lower or higher level group class that better suits my Chinese level if one is
available, additional fees may apply. Changes from a group class to private class or from a private
class to group class are subject to additional fees set solely at the discretion of First Step Mandarin.

I agree to the terms and conditions of First Step Mandarin’s Refund and Sickness Policy Agreement.
