Schedule
You will receive a detailed schedule when your registration is confirmed. Please read this
information carefully.
Once the exam is finished, you must gather your belongings from the Examinee lounge and
promptly exit the Test Centre.
When you arrive at the NDEB office, you will register for the NDECC. Do not arrive early for your
registration time.
An NDEB staff member will verify your photo identification. Once verified, you will be given your
NDECC card. This card must be worn at all times in the Test Centre.
You will be asked to sign an NDECC Confidentiality and Non-disclosure Agreement at the time
of registration on the first day of your exam.
Any food, drinks, medication, health products, or other materials you wish to bring into the Test
Centre must be presented to NDEB staff for inspection. You will be able to store your food items
Family and friends are not permitted in the registration area and Test Centre.
Locker room
Please note that the locker room and the lockers are
too small to fit a suitcase. You should not bring any
suitcases to the NDEB® office.
Examinee lounge
After your belongings are secured in the locker room, you will leave the registration area and
enter the Test Centre to the examinee lounge.
The examinee lounge has tables, chairs, and soft seating areas for your use during breaks. You
are encouraged to take breaks whenever needed during the Clinical Skills component. You will
not be permitted to leave the Test Centre during breaks, including your Clinical Skills day
mandatory lunch break.
There is a fridge in the examinee lounge to store your lunch and snacks. The kitchen is also fitted
with a microwave, dishes, and cutlery for your use. Tea, coffee, and water are provided as well
as snacks. Please keep the kitchen area tidy and place any dishes in the dishwasher after use.
The NDEB has made every effort to create a low-stress environment. It is recommended that you
establish stress-management strategies prior to the examination.
A small private room is available for mothers who are breastfeeding and for prayer and
meditation.
If you anticipate requiring the private room, please notify the NDEB prior to your examination so
the room can be reserved for you at a specific time.
Washrooms
An accessible washroom is available near the examinee lounge. Two additional all gender
washrooms are available down the hallway near the Situational Judgement rooms.
You may access the examinee lounge, washrooms, and private room at any time during your
Clinical Skills component. The Test Centre, including the examinee lounge, is monitored through
closed-circuit television (CCTV), and fitted with a duress alarm. You are expected to always
engage in appropriate conduct.
There is no loitering in the Test Centre hallways before the exam begins.
Simulation clinic
On the day you perform the Clinical Skills component, an NDECC staff person will direct you from
the examinee lounge to the clinic. The Clinical Skills component orientation will take place in the
clinic. The bottom drawer of your mobile dental cabinet can be used to store any personal items
approved at registration.
The clinic is equipped with dental simulators (A-dec) fitted with manikin heads and typodonts
(Kilgore International, Inc.). There is a laboratory equipped to polish provisional restorations;
however, you can also polish your provisional restoration chairside at your simulator.
From the clinic, you can access the examinee lounge, private room, and washrooms.
On the day you perform the Situational Judgement component, you will attend an orientation.
You will then be escorted to the Situational Judgement hallway that contains the ten Situational
Judgement rooms. Your Situational Judgement rotation order with your specific room
assignment will be on the back of your NDECC card.
A list of supplied items is provided below. Whenever possible, the names of products are listed as
written on our supplier’s website. The names will not always be a comprehensive description of
every item included in a kit. It is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with any given kit’s
content. You will not be allowed to bring any instruments or dental supplies with you in the
NDECC® Test Centre and therefore do not need to buy anything on this list. Please note that the
NDEB reserves the right to remove, add, or substitute items when necessary.
You will be provided with enough materials and supplies to complete the Clinical Skills. You will
only be provided with additional materials and supplies if you have run out entirely. Please notify
an invigilator by raising your hand if you require additional materials or supplies.
Additional Supplies
The following items are available in the clinic for use. Please ask an invigilator by raising your
hand.
• Anti-fog spray
• Earplugs (located in your mobile dental cabinet)
• Medical tape
• Optical screwdrivers
The NDEB currently uses the series 200 typodont (D95SDP-200-GSF-OCC) and simulated teeth
from Kilgore International.
Beginning October 1, 2024 the 700 series typodont D95SQR-700(GUB)-OCC and simulated teeth
from Kilgore International will be used, details can be found on page 12 of the practical guide.

The permanent replacement teeth are white in colour and are made of a uniform melamine
material.
Series S12-200 teeth with simulated enamel, dentin and pulp will be provided for the Endodontic
access cavity preparation. These teeth have:
• Simulated enamel and dentin:
The simulated enamel and dentin in the crown of the teeth are white in colour and are made of
a uniform composite resin material with no demarcation between the simulated enamel and
dentin. The simulated dentin in the root of the teeth is made of clear resin. The teeth have been
manufactured so that procedures may be performed using normal pressure with a dental bur
and, if desired, finishing can be done using normal pressure with sharp hand instruments.
Fractures may occur if an attempt is made to remove a large section of tooth structure, or if
excessive force or dull instruments are used.
• Simulated pulp chamber and canals:
The simulated dental pulp chamber and canals are hollow spaces lined with red colouring.
Be advised that the use of metal hand instruments in teeth may leave a grey stain on the
simulated teeth.
Beginning October 1, 2024, the NDEB will be using the 700 series typodont D95SQR-700(GUB)-
OCC and simulated teeth from Kilgore International for the Clinical Skills component of the
NDECC.
The pre-prepared teeth are white in colour and are made from an epoxy resin material.
The individual replacement teeth are white in colour and are made from a uniform melamine
material. All non-examination teeth will also be individual replacement teeth.
Series S12-700 teeth with simulated enamel, dentin and pulp will be provided for the Endodontic
access cavity preparation. These teeth have a 3D printed root structure and have:
The simulated enamel and dentin in the crown of the teeth are white in colour and are

700 series gingiva (GUB for D95-700) is made from a soft, urethane-based tissue.
You will be provided with either an upper or a lower arch for practice. You may practice on all
teeth on the supplied arch at any time during the Clinical Skills component. There will be one
Endodontic access cavity preparation practice tooth provided that will be different from your
actual examination tooth. All remaining teeth in the practice arch will be permanent
replacement teeth. You will not be graded on infection control and safety while using the
practice arch.
The FDI two-digit tooth numbering system below is used for all examinations.

You will be provided with all the necessary equipment, materials, and instruments for your
examination.
The only items permitted are your own protective eyewear and light attachment, which can be
dental surgical loupes with additional batteries (or charger), cleaning cloth, your lunch, snacks,
drinks, medications (if pre-approved), and health products as needed.
You should wear comfortable professional streetwear or scrubs. A disposable surgical gown to
wear on top of your clothes will be provided upon request. For safety reasons, open toed or
perforated footwear (ex. Crocs) is not allowed in the clinic.
For the health and comfort of candidates and staff, the Test Centre is a scent free environment.
We request that you avoid scented products such as cologne, aftershave, perfume, and
scented lotion. The use of scented deodorant is permitted.
You can only eat in the examinee lounge. We recommend that you bring a lunch and/or snacks
on your Clinical Skills component day. Food cannot be delivered to you at the reception. You
cannot leave to get food during the examination.
If you leave the Test Centre to return to the reception or the locker room during your
examination, you will not be permitted back into the Test Centre to complete your examination.
Therefore, you cannot leave the Test Center for any reason during the examination.
The amalgamators are set to seven (7) seconds and must not be adjusted.
You will not be graded on infection control and safety until 8:30 a.m. when the Clinical Skills
component begins.
