TERM 1 PHYSICS QUESTION PAPER PATTERN

Paper contains 33 questions in five sections. Section A contains 12 MCQ and 4 Assertion-
Reason questions of 1mark each, section B contains 5 short answer questions of 2 marks
each, Section C contains 7 short answer questions of 3 marks each, Section D has two case
study based questions of 4 marks each and section E has three long answer questions of 5
marks each.

The question paper will be a competency based one which assesses the following
competencies:

(1) Recollect facts like units and dimensional formula of various physical quantities and
dimensional constants.

(2) Define scientific terms like unit vector, coefficient of friction etc.

(3) Plot relationships between physical quantities like x-t, v-t and a-t graphs

(4) Identify various graphs and their uses

(5) State rules/laws in physics like laws of friction, Newton’s laws etc.

(6) Apply the method of dimensions in obtaining empirical formulas and correctness of
equations

(7) Use the scientific convections to derive mathematical expressions

(8) Apply the scientific knowledge(knowledge of differentiation, parallelogram law,

resultant velocity, Lami’s Theorem etc.) to solve numerical problems and to unfamiliar
situations.
