• Using a stiff brush, work first coat of
waterproofing slurry well into the damp
surface.
• After the first coat has dried, apply second
coat at right angle to first followed by
mortar/screed overlay. Average time gap
between two coats is 3 to 4 hours.

powdered sand/coarse aggregate and
cement until the required consistency is
achieved.
Rendering to vertical surfaces
• Apply the bonding slurry to the prepared
surface and then apply the MasterEmaco
SBR 2rendor onto the wet bonding slurry.
• Application Thickness: 5 to 25mm.
• Greater thickness can lead to slumping.
• Apply multiple layers in rapid succession,
within 15 to 30 minutes of the previous
layer.
• Finish the surface using a wooden float or
steel trowel.
• Apply modified slurry coat on the first layer
in case application of second layer is
delayed to long time gaps.
Screeds and toppings, applied to horizontal
surfaces
• Application thickness 10mm to 40mm.
• The MasterEmaco SBR 2 modified mix
should be placed over the still wet bonding
slurry, well compacted by hand and
trowelled to finish using a wooden float or
steel trowel.
Curing:Moisture cure for 24 hours and then allow
to dry slowly

MasterKure® 181
Acrylic resin based, multi-role curing, sealing and protective membrane

DESCRIPTION Drying time (ASTM : 45 mins at 25oC

MasterKure 181 is a non-degrading, membrane-
forming liquid based on specially formulated acrylic
resin suitable for curing newly placed or freshly
deshuttered concrete; assists in the retention of
water during hydration. The resultant film retains
sufficient moisture in the concrete to ensure full
hydration of the cement; essential for optimum
strength development. The cured concrete is
typically harder and exhibits a dust free surface
with a reduced incidence of drying shrinkage
cracks. Additionally, the membrane acts as a
primer system for many subsequent surface
finishes that do not rely on penetration for
substrate bond. When applied to floors, the
MasterKure 181seals and dustproof the surface,
eliminating the primary source of abrasion and
enhancing durability.
MasterKure 181 is available as a clear translucent
liquid and white solar reflective version.

As a more effective and economical alternative to
separate curing and priming/sealing

COVERAGE
The recommended rate of application is 4-6
square metres per litre. This corresponds to that
at which MasterKure 181 has been tested, and at
which it attains the claimed degree of curing
efficiency. In favourable conditions such as shaded
interior surfaces, adequate curing can be achieved
with extended coverage rates.
When using MasterKure 181 for floor areas where
maximum chemical and wear resistance is
required, it is recommended that a further coat be
applied after 24 hours.
In place of the above recommendations, the rates
of cover stipulated in a specification should at all
times be observed.
APPLICATION
Surface Preparation
NEWLY PLACED CONCRETE:
Surface must be sound and properly finished.
Surface is ready for application of MasterKure
181, when damp, but not wet, and it can no longer
be marred by foot traffic.
NEWLY CURED BARE CONCRETE:
Level any gouges. Remove all dirt, dust, oil,
grease, asphalt, and foreign matter. Clean with
caustics and detergents as required. Citrus
degreaser is excellent for removing oil stains and
many curing compounds. Rinse thoroughly and
allow to dry. Apply MasterKure181 to damp but
not wet surfaces.
AGED CONCRETE:
Restore surface to soundness by patching,
grouting, and filling cracks or holes. Surface must
also be free of any dust, dirt, and other foreign
matter. Use power tools or strippers to remove any
incompatible sealers or coatings. Clean as
required, following procedure under “Newly cured
bared concrete”.

Apply a continuous, uniform film by low-pressure
spray, short nap roller or brush.

Subsequent surface finishes
The resin in MasterKure 181 ensures that bond is
maintained with adhesives used for installing tiles,
and other floor coverings. MasterKure 181 will act
as a primer for paint systems and will enable most
surface treatments to progress with minimal delay.
Typical surface treatments that will bond to
surfaces with MasterKure 181 are:
 Water based emulsion paints containing PVA,
PVC and acrylic co-polymers
 Tile adhesives based on the above polymers
 Bituminous emulsions and solutions.
 Thin section polymer modified cementitious
systems.
 Polyurethane resin system
 Polysulphide systems
 Epoxy resin compositions which do not rely on
penetration for substrate bond.

Cleaning
Use CLEANING SOLVENT NO. 2 to clean rollers
and spray equipment before MasterKure 181
become dry. Any excess cured material will have
to be mechanically removed.
SUGGESTED SPECIFICATION
The non-degrading membrane forming curing &
sealing compound shall be MasterKure 181,
acrylic resin based formulation. The product shall
comply with ASTM C 309 Class B. The product
shall exhibit water loss not more then 0.55 kg/m2 in
72 hours when tested as per ASTM C156. The
product shall form non-degrading abrasion
resistance film which shall also exhibit capability
as primer for subsequent protective coatings or
bituminous overlays.
PACKAGING
MasterKure 181 is available in 5 & 20 litre packs.
STORAGE /SHELF LIFE
MasterKure 181 must be stored where
temperatures do not drop below +5°C. Store under
cover, out of direct sunlight and protect from
extremes of temperature.
Shelf life is12 months when stored as above.
Failure to comply with the recommended storage
conditions may result in premature deterioration of
the product or packaging. For specific storage
advice consult your local Master Builders Solutions
representative.
PRECAUTIONS
As with all chemical products, care should be
taken during use and storage to avoid contact with
eyes, mouth, skin and foodstuffs (which can also
be tainted with vapour until product fully cured or
dried). Treat splashes to eyes and skin
immediately. If accidentally ingested, seek
immediate medical attention. Keep away from
children and animals. Reseal containers after use.
Do not reuse containers for storage of consumable

Priming Concrete
No special primer is required. To obtain extra
strong bonding, the damp substrate can be primed
with a slurry brush coat of MasterEmaco S 488 (2
parts powder to 1 part water).
Mortar application
The minimum temperatures must be maintained
during application and for at least 24 hours
thereafter for optimum curing of the product.
The prepared substrate should be pre-soaked,
preferably for 24 hours, but at least 2 hours before
applying MasterEmaco S 488 The surface must
be saturated surface dry, but without standing
water. MasterEmaco S 488 can be spray or hand
applied. Apply mixed product directly to the
prepared damp substrate, or wet in wet onto the
primed surface. Spraying the material with the
necessary pressure will ensure good adhesion of
the material.
A thin scrape coat or contact layer before building
up to the required thickness, wet on wet, will
improve adhesion especially in case of hand
application. Apply to the desired layer thickness of
12 mm to max 50 mm and level using a screeding
bar, trowel or wooden board. Can be applied in
(formerly known as Emaco S88C T)
thicker layers in smaller patches or where
additional reinforcement is present. Smoothing
with a trowel or finishing by float or sponge can be
done as soon as the mortar has begun to stiffen.
Protective coatings
Subsequent coatings of MasterProtect anti-
carbonation barriers or silane impregnations
should be applied as recommend on the individual
datasheets.
CURING
MasterEmaco S 488 should be cured with
MasterKure 181 or clear polythene sheeting over
wet hessian.
ESTIMATING DATA
Each bag of MasterEmaco S 488 when mixed
with 3.5L of water yields 12.4L.

SHELF LIFE
MasterEmaco S 488 has a shelf life of 6 months.

APPLICATION
Surface preparation
All loose traces of concrete or mortar, dust, grease
oil, etc. must be removed. Damaged or
contaminated concrete shall be removed to obtain
a keyed aggregate exposed surface. Non-impact/
vibrating cleaning methods, e.g. grit or high-
pressure water blasting are recommended. Cut the
edges of the repair vertically to a minimum depth of
20 mm. Clean all exposed reinforcement to a
minimum grade of Sa 2 according to ISO 8501-1 /
ISO 2944-4. Ensure back of reinforcing bar is also
clean
Where reinforcing bars are corroded, cut back the
concrete to at least 20mm behind the reinforcing

reinforcement with MasterEmaco P 130 for
superior protection from corrosion.
Grit blast around the reinforcing bars to remove
corrosion products. Replace the affected part of
reinforcing bar if the diameter after grit blasting is

responsible for the works.
Formwork
The forms must be of good quality, treated with a
chemical release agent such as MasterFinish for
smooth release, provided with water drain holes,
strong and well braced to withstand the fluid
pressure of the mortar until it hardens.
Mixing
Only full bags are mixed. Damaged or opened bags
should not be used. Mix MasterEmaco S 466 in a
forced action pan mixer, or with a helical paddle
attached to a low speed (300-600rpm) mixer for 3
minutes until a lump free, flowable consistency is
achieved. Only use clean water.
Mixing water needed: 3.75 to 4.25 litres per 25kg
bag. Allow the mortar to rest for 2 - 3 minutes and
then remix briefly before pouring into formwork. If

chilled water for mixing.
Mortar application
The minimum temperatures must be maintained
during application and for at least 24 hours
thereafter for optimum curing of the product. The
prepared substrate should be pre-soaked,
preferably for 24 hours, but at least 2 hours before
applying MasterEmaco S 466 ensure all water is
removed from formwork prior to installation and
formwork is resealed. MasterEmaco S 466 should
be pumped or poured into the prepared formwork
until the void is filled. Pumping is recommended for
larger pours. Do not vibrate MasterEmaco S 466
as it could lead to segregation.
The formwork should be removed after 1-3 days
and a curing compound applied. If subsequent
coats are to be applied the use of clear polyethene
recommended for the first three days after removal
of formwork. For repairs beyond 80mm to 100mm
in thickness, extend MasterEmaco S 466 with up
to 25kg of 5-12mm sized washed, saturated
surface-dry (SSD), graded low absorption, high
density aggregates. Please consult your local

Protective coatings
Subsequent coatings of MasterProtect anti-
carbonation barriers or silane impregnations should
be applied as recommend on the individual
datasheets.
CURING
MasterEmaco S 466 should be cured after
formwork removal by MasterKure 181 or with wet
hessian cloth.
ESTIMATING DATA
Each bag of MasterEmaco S 466 when mixed with
4L of water yields 13.2L. This is near approximate
value and user is requested to establish trials at site.
PACKAGING
MasterEmaco S 466 is available in 25kg bags.
SHELF LIFE
MasterEmaco S 466 has a shelf life of 6 months.
Store out of direct sunlight, clear of the ground on
pallets protected from rainfall.

Guidelines for Use
Dosage and Application Procedure: Add the MasterRoc MP 355 1K
Accelerator (up to 10% by volume of the resin, depending
on the required reaction time) to MasterRoc MP 355 1K
Resin. Mix thoroughly and quickly. Inject the mixture through
a single component injection pump. The moisture / water in
the ground will activate the foaming reaction. In the case of
dry ground, flush the space with water before injecting the
product.
Reaction Time: The reaction time depends on the temperature
of the ground and that of the MasterRoc MP 355 1K resin,
as well as the accelerator dosage. Table 1 below shows the
reaction time based on laboratory trials. Field trials should
be performed in advance to establish the required reaction
time.

Cleaning of Injection Equipment: During short breaks or intervals
longer than an hour in the injection process, fill the pump and
hoses with non-accelerated MasterRoc MP 355 1K Resin to
avoid blockages.
After the injection process, pump an appropriate cleaning
and maintenance agent (such as MasterRoc MP 230 CLN
product) or an oil containing no moisture, through the pump
and injection hoses until MasterRoc MP 355 1K Resin is
completely flushed out. Store the pump and hoses with the
cleaning agent inside and seal all the openings.

Storage and Handling
Storage Temperature and Shelf Life: MasterRoc MP 355 1K
Resin and MasterRoc MP 355 1K Accelerator must be
stored in airtight containers in a cool, dry place within a
temperature range of 40 ºF and 95 ºF (5 ºC and 35 ºC).
If stored in original containers under the above mentioned
conditions, the MasterRoc MP 355 1K products have a shelf
life of 24 months. MasterRoc MP 355 1K products must be
protected from freezing.
Safety: MasterRoc MP 355 1K Resin and MasterRoc
MP 355 1K Accelerator are non-hazardous. However,
standard safety procedures when handling chemical
products should be followed (including wearing gloves and
safety glasses).
Avoid eye and skin contact. If skin contact occurs, wash with
plenty of water and soap. In case of eye contact, rinse with
plenty of water and seek medical advice.
