1.Objectives:
To analyze the working and performance of a single phase AC voltage controller circuit in simulator
and on trainer.
2.Equipment/ Components:
• Power Electronics Trainer IPC-400-J

Software
• PSPICE

• Input power supply: single-phase AC220V.
• Circuit power supply: single-phase AC24V.
• Output Load: 500Ω 3W.

• Inductor Load: 10mH.

• SCR specification: 600V 6A. (TYN610)

3.Introduction:
An AC voltage controller is a converter that controls the voltage, current, and power delivered to an AC load from
an AC source. Figure 1 shows a single-phase AC voltage controller using two thyristor. In the positive half cycle
of the input, thyristor T1 is forward biased and allows the current to pass through. Whilein the negative half cycle,
thyristor T2 is forward biased and allows the current to pass through, thus maintaining a bidirectional
current in the load.
